A lot of people I have approached have told me that because they are connected to an RCD, they do not need to test and tag in Queensland.

While this may be true according to the regulations, being connected to an RCD does not automatically mean the risk of injury goes away or that appliances can't cause fires in your workplace.

Have a look at the following article, which goes into a bit more depth on the topic.

Stay safe over the upcoming holiday period and contact Pulse Test and Tag Palm Beach for all your testing and tagging requirements.

What type of equipment is tested and tagged?

In short, any device that has a flexible cable, a removable plug and is not low voltage (not exceeding 50V). This includes extension leads, cord sets and portable RCD’s.

Generally, electrical appliances can be classed as either:

Class I – this is an earthed appliance i.e. kettles, irons and toasters

Class II – double insulated appliances, which are usually identified with a symbol (a square within a square) or with the words ‘Double Insulated’ i.e. most electric drills and hair dryers./p>

It's worth mentioning that new equipment doesn't need to be tested - just visually inspected and tagged.

If these are the sorts of appliances in your workplace and you want to ensure the safety of your employees, customers and yourself, get in contact today!!!!
