Congratulations to for being selected as a finalist in this prestigious art Prize.

The Dobell Drawing Prize is Australia's leading prize for drawing, presented at the National Art School in partnership with the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation.

Surrounded by 55 other finalists, this neon interpretation of Em's drawing adds an unmissable glow to the ground floor gallery space.

We recently had the pleasure of attending, viewing the wide-ranging talent of artist works by finalists selected from the 965 nationwide entries.

The exhibition is open until 21st June 2025 with free admission.

What an honour to be part of this sculpture installation, ‘Of line, Of Light’ by emerging artist as part of the
The work is best viewed on dusk to appreciate the neon and steel sculpture and its relationship to the surrounding architecture.

Exploring these concepts further, I joined a panel discussion ‘On Light and Architecture’ bringing together the artist Brontë Cormican-Jones and Architect Savita Gaonkar, moderated by Chris Mercer from the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. The interplay of space, built environment and lighting is perceived uniquely according to time of day and individual interactions. The art on the front lawn spectacularly reflects these ideas.

The Canberra Art Biennial is a comprehensive art festival of contemporary mixed media artworks in the designed landscape of Canberra and runs to the 26th of October.

Back at the bench for 2024, can’t help reflecting on some terrific opportunities to mentor artists exploring the creative potential offered by neon glass blowing available via during 2023.

This series of photos features and an extraordinary long 3000mm, 20mm diameter, glass tube. Heated and fashioned into the desired shape, we then hand mixed and applied to the interior of the tube, a phosphorus coating which when illuminated, resulted in an opal-like mix of warm white and pink shades.
Whilst hand coating is not commonly done in Australia, this is just another example of artistic collaboration stretching the possibilities of neon glass work as a medium.

Typically used for architectural lighting, and generally not used in commercial neon signs, it’s time to get creative with this 20mm clear glass tube and fill with neon.

Set on a background of liquid iron, instant rust and framed with a finish of Micaceous Iron Oxide, this piece is ready to hang.
