DESK SPACE Co-working space and startup incubator Our collective of multidisciplinary members are specialists in their fields.

Desk Space was established in 2009 as Sydney’s first co-working space and today it hosts a network of ambitious hard workers who are building great businesses. They represent a diverse range of skill sets and knowledge, yet are like-minded people driven by the same ethos: to share, collaborate and innovate; to work hard, achieve and make a difference. Desk Space is an environment based on design t

hinking: the integration of people, technology and business to create new ideas and solve problems. We apply the principles of good design – considered, responsible, intelligent design – to translate initial ideas into something more tangible, leveraging the skill sets and knowledge of our members to mitigate risks from the start. Desk Space is a high-calibre network of people who invest in seeing each other succeed. Our members are ambitious, accomplished, experienced and modest and our open-plan layout fuels a culture of collaboration and participation. Desk Space is proof that productivity is infectious and success breeds success.

There’s just something about going for a coffee with friends to wrap up another month. For us, these moments are just as important as the work that happens in the office. 🤎

In this , we have Sahar — co-founder of What Matters, Australia’s leading content and communications agency for hospitality groups.

Alongside the WM team, Sahar works across a roster of pretty epic (and delicious) hospitality clients, helping bring stories, campaigns and venues to life. From strategy to ex*****on, her work sits at the centre of how hospitality brands connect with their audiences.

One recent highlight? Supporting the launch of the new Sydney Fish Market. Having worked with the team for several years, being part of that next chapter was, in her words, “epic.”

Interestingly, this wasn’t always the plan. Sahar originally studied pharmacology before falling into digital marketing “by a very lucky accident.” What started as an internship during COVID turned into a six-year career, and eventually the opportunity for her and her business partners to branch out and build What Matters together.

One thing she’s especially proud of is the team they’ve built along the way. “We’re super proud to now have over 10 incredible individuals as a part of What Matters. It’s definitely been the highlight of this whole journey for me.”

Outside of work, her creativity spills into hosting and party planning — flower arranging, tablescaping, all of it. It’s the same energy she brings into her work too: thoughtful, detail-oriented, and all about creating memorable experiences for people.

Her brother was also a big inspiration growing up, always encouraging her to pursue something creative, which eventually led her toward the path she’s on today.

Her go-to piece of advice? “Progress over perfection.”

If she wasn’t working in this world, she’d possibly be a Human Rights Lawyer.

As hospitality specialists, we had to ask about the local favourites. Around the neighbourhood, Sahar and the WM crew are big fans of Theeca.

And when it comes to Desk Space, it’s the sense of community that stands out most. “There’s always a coffee club or a special occasion to celebrate, which makes it feel more than just a workspace. The Desk Space team is also incredible at bringing people together and creating opportunities to connect.”

We’ve been watching this one come to life from the inside.

From early concepts and design explorations to photoshoots, packaging, and all the small details in between, seeing .aigewilliams and the team build Fifth Studio has been one of those journeys you don’t forget.

What started as The:5th has evolved into something more considered. A shift towards permanence, craftsmanship, and a design language that feels timeless rather than trend-led.

And this is exactly what we love, being close enough to see the process. The messy middle, the iterations, the quiet progress that turns a blank canvas into something real.

Now seeing it out in the world, fully realised, just makes it that much more special. Happy launch day 🤎

Type is one of the most powerful tools in branding — it shapes how a brand feels before you even read a word.

From bold statements to subtle personality shifts, the ability to explore and play with different typefaces is what brings identity to life.

If you’re a designer, you’ve probably heard of Frontify — the command centre for brand work, bringing everything together through shared resources and intelligent workflows. Now, with and working together through their new integration, teams can seamlessly experiment, apply, and scale typography across every touchpoint.

Making the creative process smoother, faster, and a lot more fun.

Because great branding isn’t static — it’s something you refine, test, and build through design.

Some moments feel a little extra special to share.

A huge congratulations to our member Kirsty Ludbrook on the launch of her book Sensorial: The Nine Senses of Branding — a project that’s been years in the making, shaped by decades of experience across beauty, wellness and hospitality.

At its core is The Nine Senses of Branding — a framework that goes beyond traditional branding to create multi-sensory, human-centred experiences. By combining intuitive senses like connection, uniqueness, harmony and integrity with the five physical senses, Kirsty explores how brands can build deeper trust and lasting impact.

In a world increasingly shaped by AI, this book is a reminder of the power of human creativity, intuition and insight.

We’ve had a front-row seat to this journey, and it’s been pretty special to watch it come to life. Proud to have you as part of the community 🤎
