TEAM LEADER – DEFENCE PROJECTS

ABR GROUP NT – Darwin, NT

We’re not looking for average.

ABR Group delivers critical electrical, civil, and communications works across Defence sites. We’re looking for a proven Team Leader who takes ownership, leads from the front, and delivers to a high standard — without being chased.

The Role
Lead a crew on live Defence projects
Plan and drive daily works (not just follow instructions)
Maintain high standards in safety, quality, and productivity
Work on the tools while leading your team
Interface confidently with supervisors and stakeholders
Ensure full compliance with site, safety, and Defence requirements

You’ll Suit This Role If You:
Have solid experience leading crews on construction sites
Can read drawings, plan works, and solve problems on site
Run a tight, disciplined crew
Keep rework to a minimum through quality control
Communicate early when issues arise — not after the fact
Don’t need to be micromanaged
Take ownership and hold your team accountable
Have a background in electrical, civil, or communications

Minimum Requirements
White Card
HR Licence (essential)
Relevant trade or strong industry experience
Proven ability to run jobs safely and efficiently

Tickets & Licences (Highly Regarded)
Excavator / plant operator tickets
Trenching & underground services experience
Working at Heights
Confined Space
EWP / Boom Lift
Do***ng / Rigging
First Aid / CPR

Remuneration
$45–$55/hr + penalties + overtime (based on experience)

👷‍♂️ This is Finn, one of our crew who’s been down at RAAF Tindal installing optical fibre as part of the base upgrade 💪🔌🏖️

He was meant to be heading back to Darwin for a family holiday, but got caught out when the road closed 🚧😬🚁

No dramas — the team jumped in, organised a helicopter to Pine Creek, then got him the rest of the way home 🚗✅🤝

Big shout out to the harbrow’s couldn’t have made it happen without you.

These Guys & Girls have been slogging it out in ridicules heat for the past 3 months laying by hand 20mm stone.

With over 4200 cubic meters installed they are at the halfway point of the project.
