Not every project has a textbook solution.

Recently, the Geotech Australia team attended a remote infrastructure project where trench excavations encountered predominantly weathered rock.

Rather than applying standard field testing methods that weren't suited to the site conditions, our engineers carried out a detailed assessment of the excavation and prepared an engineering memorandum outlining the most appropriate approach for the project.

It's a great reminder that engineering isn't just about following a process - it's about understanding the conditions, applying experience, and delivering practical solutions when challenges arise.
