A rare sight for me!
TV off, home alone, incense and candles going, no big lights. Laptop open, because working is my calm.
✨ Pure bliss ✨
Confession time & a little vulnerability 👋
I've run a brick-and-mortar shop and several handmade businesses. I've done the design, the printing, the packing and the books at midnight. I've missed too many hours with my kid because I was working far too hard.
For almost 14 years I was flat out every day and still couldn't tell you what was actually working. Bills paid, but growing? Not really. I was stuck.
It took a complete burnout to realise I'd spent years on tasks that made next to nothing. I had to shut down and restart. Turn it off and on again. Works every time, but it's hard to do.
Being a neurodivergent business owner and parent with no village is rough. If you don't look after yourself, nobody will. Even in burnout. Especially in burnout.
✨ Busy isn't running a business. Busy is the business running you ✨
What fixed it was three things:
1. Chaos: getting it all out of my head and onto a page. What I loved, what I hated and what actually moved the needle.
2. Clarity: deciding what mattered and letting the rest go without guilt.
3. Capacity: building simple systems so the bottleneck wasn't me 😅
Now I help other local business owners do the same, and I've finally found my true passion.
Lately that's looked like one owner going from chaos to fully trading in under two months, another who almost doubled her prices, and another who saved thousands after an audit found double subscriptions and three versions of the same system!
Especially for brains that don't do "just follow the 10-step plan." (Hi, fellow neurodivergents 💛)
So hi, I'm here, and I'd love to connect with other local small business owners.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, comment CLARITY and I'll send you my free Chaos Check, a quick quiz that shows where your business is stuck.
