Track Care WA Inc 'Access for the Future'
Monthly meetings on the last Wednesday of every month (except December!) Track Care WA Incorporated is a not-for-profit organisation.

All work and administration is carried out by volunteers. Our mission is to support organisations, government bodies and programs in the sustainable management and environmental protection of vehicular tracks including those of cultural and heritage significance. Our aim is to facilitate the preservation of these tracks for generations to come so they too can enjoy the privilege that we have today.

CSR: Left well 36 this morning and are now at well 31.
We saw a lot of camels with a big old bull camel following up his group.
Stopped at well 33 for hazard reduction and internal clean of the toilet (duel). The spot is great with good water from a solar-powered bore.
A quick trip into Kunawarritji for fuel at $4.20 per litre (one volunteer put $500 in his car 😳), then a shower and wash clothes for $20 which I thought was reasonable.
A big shout out to Cris (owner and former NT fire fighter) for his assistance in getting petrol out of the tank to top up one of our volunteers as the bowser had broken down.
The corros are bad between wells 33 and 31 atm.
I’m now going to cook my steak on the camp fire!

CSR: Another 130 odd kms from well 41 to 35 . More abandoned cars( broken chassis), a grave site at 37 of Tobi , a member of canning group, and an aboriginal (read the inscription), then 5 more graves at well 36. Aboriginal art work was found between the sites and a great run across the lake named after the drover, Tobi.
Check out the galas hanging around at well 41, not us!

CSR: Great day today, from Well 46 to 41 .. 163km.
One of our volunteers lost 2 sets of MaxTracks attached to racks between Guli Lake and Well 43 😞.
We found some rock art at the rocks north of guli lakes (in photos).
We also came across about 50 camels at Guli Lakes as there is abundant feed for them.
A short video on dune driving in the beginning of the dune country which is fun if you don’t miss a gear and get stuck!
Photo of Well 41 that we hope to rebuild next year as it is clean water.
You can see many trailers all along the track including a new one after Well 42 which did well to get that far!
On, on tomorrow!

Kanyana Wildlife ceiling replacement
Day 3 & 4

On day 3 we started on the room which is to be the new kitchen. As this was still in use the original ceiling was retained to reduce the mess so Danny at Kanyana had fitted some new wooden joists below the ceiling. Getting the Gyprock sheets in here was an even greater challenge due to access and the layout of the room which had cupboards on the walls. By now we had a system sorted out and this room was finished after lunch and then we all learnt about how to fit the cornices. Again Kevin’s experience and tools were invaluable as the rooms were not plain rectangles, but had fiddly alcoves around the Metters No.6 oven and the stub walls between the rooms.

Kanyana Wildlife ceiling replacement
Day 2

On day 2 the fun started trying to get a 5.5m sheet of Gyprock into the room, onto the panel lifter and into position. Blobs of adhesive was placed on the furring channels and plasterboard screws were used to hold the sheet in place. It took us the rest of the day to cut and fit the other ceiling sheets in the old kitchen.

Kanyana Wildlife ceiling replacement

Day 1
This was the biggest job we had done for Kanyana Wildlife and thankfully they had done a lot of preparation to help.
Five Track Care members were able to fit new Gyprock ceiling sheets to the old kitchen and adjoining new kitchen.
We were able to call on Kevin's experience and use his panel lifter which made it much easier.
The ceiling had been removed from the old kitchen, which is going to be reused as a storeroom, and we started off by fitting Rondo clips to the ceiling joists and removing battens where necessary. Once they were all installed we cut and fitted furring channels.

CSR: Well 46 is now complete with a huge thanks to the volunteer team we did it in 1.5 days🤙
We pumped it out to refresh the water ( and look for Lars hammer, to no avail) It replenished at the rate of 600mm in 30 min with clean drinking water.
On my morning walk I came across the dingo/ dog print, check out the size!😳
Pack and rest then onto well 45 tomorrow.

CSR: Old Well 46 now dismantled, dug out( with safety gear ) then start reassembling the new structure, we had to cart 3 ton of sand to back fill the voids and I owe Lars a large new hammer as on my second swing I dropped it in the well!😩

CSR the team have serviced the new dunny at stretch lagoon, improved track maintenance towards Braden ranges which 3 of us climbed for the Aerial shot. We can't thank the team for volunteering to go out and repair Well 46. Just note that they pay for their own food and fuel for the trip from Perth to do this work. Track Care WA Inc has now bern doing this on the CSR for 30 years!

CSR: We stayed overnight at the Braden pool access then went in this morning.
The track is very overgrown and slow going. The pool has some water but his “tank” is dry. See the message engraved on the wall for dates and names. We are now at well 46 and have set up ready for an early start to replace the damaged well. Call in fo a chat 👍
Cheers Frank
