General information

MTECH Systems started life as Hobart Duff Scientific Pty Ltd in Melbourne, Australia in 1923. Early products marketed by the company included conventional meteorological equipment such as barometers and temperature gauges. After many successful years of operation, in 1976 the instrument division of the company was incorporated as Measurement Technology Pty Ltd. The company quickly expanded its operations and several new devices were developed to take advantage of the then new laser and microprocessor technologies. In 1982 the company entered the aviation industry with a successful award of a contract to supply microprocessor based AWOS systems to the Australian Department of Civil Aviation across all Australian airports. In 1985 MTECH designed and marketed the worlds first commercial digital anemometer. A contract was entered into for the supply of these anemometer systems to airports all over Australia. Almost all of these sensors are still in operation today. In 1992 MTECH's communications division developed computer controlled digital voice switching technology for mobile radio networks. The original statewide application of this system is still in operation today and provides emergency support for a large Australian power utility company. The MTECH communications division expanded its operations with installations of equipment into a large number of Asia-Pacific airports. In the mid-1990's the company formed the solar systems department. A considerable skill base in the area of solar power and solar power stations had developed within the company and new products were developed to enter into this market. Turn-key solar solutions were delivered to customers with applications of solar technology to remote and inhospitable sites where mains power was not an option. In the late 1990's MTECH made a quantum leap from microprocessor based AWOS systems to full microcomputer based systems and software. The focus of this development was the MITAS system. A revolutionary system for bringing the full range of meteorological information and automated control to air traffic controllers and meteorological professionals. In the present day MTECH continues to grow and develop its products and services taking advantage of the latest field proven technologies to increase the performance, reliability and affordability of its systems, software and sensors.....
