I'm excited to share that our project called the "Women's Health, Economic and Inclusion Project" has been shortlisted for a community grant by the DHHS. Please help make this project happen by VOTING! CLICK SUPPORT & REGISTER for the VOTE TO COUNT. You must choose 3-10 projects and voting ends midnight 26th of Feb. Please vote for the "Women's Health, Economic and Inclusion Project" but other projects we think are ace are the "Community Center Planning project" and the "Youth Homework Club".
This Women's Health, Economic and Inclusion Project is a holistic program for refugee and migrant women which builds their enterprise skills as well as supports their health, wellbeing and resilience. Most importantly, the programs have been designed by and will be run by past and present migrant and refugee women living in the council estates.
As part of The Women's Health, Economic and Inclusion Project we will be working in partnership with the Belgium Avenue neighbourhood house and the DHHS. The project will:
(1) Train local mentors to support unemployed/underemployed migrant women to generate projects and businesses which support their economic goals,
(2) Include culturally appropriate programs that help these women to navigate stress, seek mental health support, strengthen family relationships and discuss cultural issues.
(3) Include wellbeing programs, such as yoga, aerobics, African drum and song, Afro dance, health and nutrition classes.
If you know anyone else who'd be interested in supporting this work then please share đ
Have your say on the future of North Richmond. Your input will help set a vision for the precinct and guide improvements to the neighbourhood.
