Watch out for cheap unapproved electrical appliances when making a purchasing decision.

Approved electrical appliances display a regulatory compliance mark (RCM) or a unique safety approval number.

The approval markings vary between states. Typically they are an alphanumeric code, comprising the first letter of the state that issued the approval followed by between one and six digits.

Follow the link below to search approval certificates of the appliance in question.

Heavy penalties apply to individuals and companies who sell appliances that do not hold the applicable certificates.
