Regional Development Australia - Orana We build relationships with stakeholders and work in partnership with our communities to drive economic development, investment and diversification.

Regional Development Australia - Orana is part of a national initiative based on building partnerships and ensuring that all governments and stakeholders are responsive to local priorities and needs. It is a conduit between government and local communities, and a provider of information. We are a non-profit community-based organisation, led by a committee appointed by both State and Federal ministers responsible for regional development. Our work falls into five major categories, guided by a regional plan. These are: business investment, economic growth and diversification, workforce development, improved infrastructure, whole-of-government policy and planning.

The Welcome Experience LC Meredith and EWs Felia and Angela enjoyed a day out in Mudgee, starting with a stroll around the Mudgee Farmers Markets and continuing onto the well-known annual event, in its 16th year, Mudgee’s Sculptures in the Garden at Rothby’ sculpturesinthegarden

Sculptures in the Garden is an outdoor exhibition, featuring more than 300 sculptures set throughout the gardens and vineyards of Rosby, where we discovered contemporary works by local, regional and Australian sculptors.
It was a beautiful day with several interactive activities, including meeting one of the artists, Ian Marr (artist and letter cutter), ianbrucemarrart who discussed his amazing works and was very interested in TWE and Felia’s and Angela’s journeys to Mudgee.

The other highlight of the day was contributing to the community sculpture project, My Kingdom for a Horse, which is a collaborative community sculpture project and the centrepiece of Sculptures in the Garden 2026, that will see a herd of life-sized horses emerge across the grounds of Rosby, before the completed horses are gifted back to the community as a lasting public art legacy. Felia and Angela will now forever be part of that legacy!

The conversations shaping the Orana's future, all happening in one room.

On Thursday 19 November, the Orana Outlook Forum brings the region’s industry leaders, decision‑makers and government together for a focused afternoon at Lazy River Estate, Dubbo. We’ve condensed the program, but not the substance: Energy, Mining, Transport, Workforce, Migration, Housing. The issues that matter most, distilled into one sharp, high‑value session.

Your time is precious, so this year’s format is shorter, smarter and built for impact. Every speaker, every panel, every conversation is designed to deliver the same depth of insight in a streamlined program.

As the formalities wrap up, we’ll head to the beautifully restored The Vault Orana for Sundowner drinks and canapés. A chance to continue the conversations, strengthen new connections, celebrate the region’s achievements and enjoy a final hurrah for the year.

If you’re invested in the future of the Orana, we’d love to have you with us.

What an amazing long lunch at Western Rural Connect’s ruralwomensday. Rural women are the back bone of our communities and it was a privilege to be a major sponsor and celebrate rural women. Key note Jen McCutcheon’s speech was funny, raw, uplifting and truly something special. Our Kate Wade spoke to the room of captivated women on everything RDA Orana is about. Congratulations to the winner of the 12 month scholarship for the Connection table. What a fantastic day!!

Recently Meredith from The Welcome Experience Mid Western attended the Mudgee Job Fair.

It was a great opportunity to connect with local organisations and employers who came along, and to help job seekers walking through the doors find information on opportunities right here in our region.

Meredith met a number of people thinking about relocating, plus some who'd only just made the move to the Mid-Western region and there was lots of interest in The Welcome Experience which was great to see.

Thinking about a move to our region, or know someone who is? Reach out and find out how The Welcome Experience can help 🙌
