Conference week, from the outside:
👉🏻slick, seamless, everything exactly where it should be 💁🏼‍♀️

Conference week, from the inside:
This. 😩😳🥹🫣🤬🤮😵‍💫😭🫠🤯🤩🤪🙌🏻

This photo was taken last year. The night before (or the morning of. At some point, time just becomes… irrelevant.) once set up was complete.

We have got:

🩷one person mentally running a 200-point checklist
💜one person quietly questioning a decision made three months ago
💙 one person considering whether a full redesign is still possible
💚 and one person missing from the picture as they locked themselves in a room to check, recheck and check again the PowerPoint deck.

What you don’t see is:

🤪the 3am wake-ups thinking about the running order
🫠the ongoing back and forth on the presentation deck (“FINAL_v6_ACTUAL_FINAL_thisone.pptx”)
😵‍💫the tiny details no one will ever point out… but absolutely determine how the whole day feels

And then there is this moment…
where we all sit there thinking:
❓Have we thought of everything?
❓Have we definitely thought of everything?
❓…interesting.

I keep telling myself it’s not chaos. It’s just the final 1% 😅

By Thursday, it will all look and feel effortless!

If you run a facility… you will know this feeling all too well! You never really know if you can get to something like a conference until about now... the week before! 😅

Up until this point it’s been the usual puzzle… staffing, rotas, cover, last minute changes. And then the week before hits. Shifts are covered.
Things feel a bit more stable. And it all becomes a bit of a lastminute.com situation… because now you actually know you can actually step away for the day...but you still need a ticket!

Everything behind the scenes is coming together... the people, the conversations, the energy of the day.

Just a quick note:
👉 We won’t be selling tickets on the door, and ticket sales close end of business Tuesday 28th April 👈

So if you have been waiting to see if it’s doable… this is probably the moment to make the call.

There is one part of the day we haven’t really spoken about yet.

And truthfully… it’s one we have spent a lot of time thinking about!

👉🏻Education.

Not just qualifications… but what we are really building into people, teams, and environments across both sides of the border.

Because if we are honest, it’s not always clear.

🩷What things really mean.
💜What standards actually sit behind them.
💙And what that looks like when it lands in the real world.

And that has an impact.

So rather than skim over it… we are opening it up.

💚A proper conversation.
🩷Different perspectives.
💜An honest look at where we are and where we need to go.

👉🏻What does good education look like now?
👉🏻What should we be aiming for?
👉🏻And what needs to change?

We will have voices in the room from right across the space.

And with hosting… there is nowhere to hide.

We will share more soon.

We have found ourselves asking this a lot recently…

What is the next right thing for our industry?

🩷Not the obvious thing.
💜Not the thing we have always done.. but the NEXT RIGHT thing.

It’s something we keep coming back to.

When you spend time out in the industry across a range of leisure facilities and you delve into aquatics, fitness, workforce development, leadership… you start to notice a pattern.

💚People care.
🩷There is a lot of good work happening.
💜There are ideas everywhere.

But those ideas don’t always travel and unfortunately the right people aren’t always in the same room.

That’s really where this all started for us.

Not with “let’s put on a conference” but more a feeling that we needed to create a space to bring people together properly.

And when we did… something shifted.

✨Conversations felt different.
💕People connected who hadn’t before.
🦵🏻Ideas started to move.

So we are doing it again!

Different perspectives. Different parts of the industry… All in one room.

To listen.
To challenge.
To figure out what that next right thing looks like… together.
