Access control systems often sit quietly in the background — until something stops working.

One of the easiest things to overlook is regular maintenance. Backup batteries inside control panels can deteriorate over time, and if a battery fails or begins leaking, the damage to control boards and other electronics can become far more expensive than simply replacing the battery.

Then there are the parts being used every day. 🚪

Electronic locks and other access control hardware may need cleaning, lubrication and general servicing to keep them operating reliably — particularly in busy workplaces where doors are opening and closing constantly.

As a general guide, we recommend having your access control system checked at least every 12 months. For higher-use sites, servicing every 6 or even 3 months may make more sense.

A little preventative maintenance can help catch small problems before they become expensive ones. 🔧

Construction site CCTV can do more than record what happened after the fact.

On one project, the team needed a way to know when someone entered a high-risk rooftop area or crossed beyond a live-edge barrier.

The solution was to configure virtual detection lines within the camera system.

If someone crossed the defined boundary, the system could automatically send the site foreman a notification and an image of what triggered the alert.

That means better visibility over a high-risk area — and a faster way for the site team to become aware of potential issues.
