A huge milestone reached on Friday for a project two years in the making!

GEM Energy was proud to be onsite as the first slab was poured at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus, marking the beginning of a cutting-edge battery installation as part of the ARENA projects.

This project spans two campuses, with 10 battery systems in total, five of which will be housed at the Innovation Campus.

With a battery capacity of 5.98MW, this initiative highlights the role of renewable energy and battery technology in powering the future of education.
Another exciting step forward in GEM Energy’s mission to support sustainable innovation in educational precincts across Australia.

GEM Energy is excited to share a recently installed 110kVA solar system at SKF Eagle Farm. Fully installed in just one week!

The GEM Energy team was outstanding and got great feedback from a very happy client - who commended the speed, professionalism, and overall delivery of the project.

The system features 168 x JKM590-72HL4-V panels paired with a powerful Sungrow SG110CX inverter. This rapid and safe installation has been hailed as a benchmark for efficiency and quality.

Got rooftop solar? Today’s the time to turn off it off before Alfred hits.

Every system will have slightly different steps, so consult your manual or the installer’s shutdown procedures, which can usually be found at the inverter and/or on the main switchboard. However, as a guide, most will advise to turn off the inverter AC mains isolator, which is usually found in the meter box: it’s very important to turn the AC mains isolator off first, and then also to turn off the photovoltaic (PV) array DC isolator which is usually found next to the inverter.

⚠️ Even if the network is not operational and panels aren't supplying the home, solar systems can continue to generate direct current (DC) power

⚡NEVER climb onto the roof to check or touch the solar system or its components – if there’s any damage, the roof can be live

🔌Treat all solar panels and cables as though they’re live and dangerous

💦 Never touch inverters, switchboards or other electrical equipment if it’s wet, or if you’re standing in water

Another exciting GEM Energy project is nearing final completion! Located in Melbourne, Victoria - Lilydale Marketplace partnered with GEM Energy to install a massive 1.7MW of solar generation.

With over 4,214 high quality REC panels, this installation will help to significantly reduce Lilydale Marketplace’s overall carbon footprint, along with helping to offset their high power demands.

Overcoming the on-site challenges required adaptability, collaboration, and innovative thinking. Due to operational constraints, we pivoted from using a crane to a Geda lifter, ensuring materials were transported efficiently while maintaining safety and compliance. During this process, we managed a highly coordinated effort with between 15-20 contractors onsite at any given time, ensuring seamless workflow and minimal disruptions.

Additionally, we worked closely with the shopping centre's operations team to minimize impact, scheduling work during selected hours to control noise and operational disturbances. Through proactive problem-solving and strong teamwork, we successfully navigated these challenges, delivering the project seamlessly while maintaining a strong relationship with all stakeholders.

GEM Energy are proud to share the recently completed 583kW solar install for iseek - one of Australia's leading data centre, cloud services, and connectivity solutions providers.

Located in Eagle Farm, just behind the Brisbane Airport, the 1,177 panel installation will help offset the high power demands of operating a data centre and help reduce their overall carbon footprint.

A big thank you to the hard working GEM Energy team and everyone at iseek for helping to bring this project to life.

GEM Energy has been working with Coates since 2022 to install solar at Coates locations across Australia.

To date, over 900kW of solar and more than 2,300 panels have been installed on 23 branches. These installations have helped Coates significantly reduce energy consumption and its overall carbon footprint, and helped Coates get closer to achieving its 2026 and 2030 interim net-zero targets.
