🌿Our sea dragon dive on the 18th of February gave us an unforgettable look into one of the most extraordinary species in our local waters. 🌊
We were lucky enough to spot six weedy seadragons, each one drifting through the kelp with their delicate, leaf-like appendages and incredible camouflage. Watching them move slowly and gracefully through their habitat is always a reminder of how unique and fragile these animals are.✨
Weedy seadragons are found only in southern Australian waters and are close relatives of seahorses. Their patterns are as individual as fingerprints, which means diver photos can help researchers identify and track them over time. 🫧
🤿During this dive we saw and logged Female #0438 who was first sighted on 9/6/24 and has been spotted 5 times since! You can learn more or contribute your own sightings at seadragonsearch.org-every photo helps protect this remarkable species. use these images to build a better understanding of their movements, habitats, and long-term conservation needs.🐠🌿
Another beautiful day beneath the surface, and another chance to appreciate the wildlife that makes our coastline so special.🌊✨
