Ian Rankine and Bronwyn Reid started 4T Consultants when they returned to Australia after many years of living and working in developing countries.
4T Consultants was launched to allow for their continuing commitment to providing consultancy services overseas. The 4T’s in the company name denoted their belief in:
Technology
Transfer
Through
Training
That philosophy led Ian back to his root
s in Agricultural science, and a goal of putting adequate information into the hands of those in charge of the environmental hazard situation.
4T undertook a major project in partnership with the State and Federal Governments – the Integrated Area Wide Management Project. Extensive work with agricultural clients resulted in 4T being requested to monitor landholder environmental issues where they could be impacted by the expanding coal mining industry. That work, in turn, led to further contracts with mining companies themselves. 4T has subsequently widened its operations to encompass the petroleum, oil and gas industries, and its portfolio to a complete suite of environmental monitoring and management services, utilising selected partners who provide specialist services.
4T now employs 10 people, operates throughout the Bowen and Galilee Basins of Queensland, and remains committed to the provision of accurate scientific data and innovative solutions to natural resource management. Ian still does some overseas consultancy work, and has recently re-written a series of technical manuals for Oil Palm Cultivation and Management in collaboration with Dr. Thomas Fairhurst that were orignally written and published by them in 1997.
