Running a business is rewarding, but it can also feel like you're carrying everything. It's often not the big projects that become overwhelming, it's the newsletters that never get sent, the social media that falls behind, the customer follow-ups, the inbox, and all those little admin jobs that quietly pile up.

With more than 20 years' experience supporting executives, I've spent the past year through Virtually Aims helping business owners reclaim their time, reduce their mental load and focus on the work only they can do.

Not every client I support is a CEO.

One of my current clients runs an outdoor playgroup for families in her community.

She shows up every week, rain or shine, creating a space for little ones and their parents to connect.

What she doesn't have time for is showing up online consistently too.

So I handle it.

Content creation. Scheduling. Keeping her community informed and engaged between sessions, without her having to think about it.

It's not the biggest scope of work. But for someone who's already giving a lot of herself to her community every week, it matters.

That's the thing about support, it doesn't have to be complex to make a real difference.

I ask about your tools, your hours, how you prefer to communicate, whether you've had support before and how that went.

I want to understand how you work before I suggest anything.

From there, I put together a picture of what would give you the most immediate relief, and what ongoing support could look like over time.

A few weeks ago, I sent 20 emails in one afternoon.

My client, a CEO of a national sporting organisation, had one meeting booked for a two-day Brisbane trip.

She gave me a list of people she wanted to connect with while she was there.
I spent the afternoon reaching out to all of them, managing the replies as they came in, and by the time I was done she had a full three-day itinerary because she ended up leaving a day earlier than planned.

Multiple meetings with key stakeholders. A travel schedule that actually made sense. And the people who couldn't make that trip? I kept that conversation warm, and we're already locking in time for July.

She didn't have to touch a single email.

That's what executive support actually looks like.

I think becoming a mother in business has taught me that success looks very different to what I once thought it did.

Earlier in my career, success was tied to long hours, climbing the ladder and constantly proving myself. Now, success looks more like flexibility, balance, being present for my daughter and creating a business and life that actually feel sustainable.

It’s also taught me that I’m far more resilient and adaptable than I ever gave myself credit for. Running a business while raising a child means learning to pivot constantly, let go of perfection and trust yourself more.

Most importantly, it’s shown me that you can still be ambitious while wanting a softer, more balanced life at the same time.
