🌸What an absolutely beautiful two days! 🌸

I am sitting here feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of Connected to Self and to share my knowledge, experience and power of Acupressure Shiatsu Massage with so many wonderful women.

A very special thank you to Jayde for creating and bringing together such an incredible space, and to Stephanie Notley, Sabine Vine, Cathy Ward, Danielle, Julie, Eveit Salib , Kay, Deb, Katie and Michelle and everyone Romsey Neighbourhood House, thank you for everything you contributed, shared and gave to make these days so special. 💛

But my biggest thank you goes to EVERY SINGLE WOMAN who participated in my Acupressure Shiatsu Massage sessions. 🙏💗

Thank you for trusting me.

Thank you for giving yourself permission to stop.

Thank you for taking a few moments out of your busy life to breathe, to stop and relax.

And thank you for allowing me to share something that I am incredibly passionate about helping women understand that self-care doesn't have to be complicated, expensive or something we wait until we're exhausted to receive.

Sometimes it can simply be a few minutes, a little pressure in the right place, a breath and a reminder that YOU matter too. 💛

Watching women relax, smile, ask questions, discover something new about their own bodies and realise that they can take some of these simple techniques, from all the Facilitator, home with them was incredibly rewarding.

And to those women who said things like “I didn't realise how much I needed that"

This is your permission to do more for you, to love You

Connected to Self wasn't just about what we could give to others.

It was about reminding women that they are worthy of receiving too.

I feel incredibly privileged to have been one small part of something so much bigger than any one of us.

Women supporting women.
Women sharing knowledge.
Women encouraging women.
Women choosing themselves.

That's community.
That's connection.
That's Connected to Self. 🌸

There are some women who simply make you want to be a better human being and my We Rise Networking Rise Sistas are definitely those women. 💛

I am incredibly thankful to be working alongside amazing facilitators like Cathy, Steph and , who are passionate about bringing women together, creating connection and, most importantly, giving back to our community.

After the beautiful day we shared on Sunday 23rd August, I am absolutely thrilled to be doing it all again this Sunday 30th August at the Women’s Wellness Expo 💛 CONNECTED TO SELF. 💛

And this time, I’ll be sharing something very close to my heart

💛💛💛 ACUPRESSURE FOR SELF-LOVE 💛💛😀

I’ll be speaking and demonstrating simple Acupressure techniques that women can learn and practise at home, for themselves.

Because after decades of working with people, I’ve seen something again and again

Women are incredibly good at caring for everyone else and often put themselves last.

We look after our partners.
Our children.
Our families.
Our businesses.
Our clients.
Our friends.
Our communities.

And somewhere along the way, we forget to put ourselves on the list. 💛

My goal isn't to simply demonstrate a technique.

It's to share a little of my knowledge, experience and understanding so that women can walk away thinking:

“Actually, I can do something for ME.” 💛

Self-love doesn't always have to be a grand gesture.

Sometimes it's five quiet minutes.
A little pressure point.
A breath.
A moment of stillness.
A decision to listen to what YOUR body is telling you.

And perhaps most importantly

Giving yourself permission to matter too. 💛

So thank you to my WeRise Sistas, Sabine, Cathy , Stephanie , Jayde and everyone who is helping create these beautiful opportunities for women to CONNECT • INSPIRE • EMPOWER • THRIVE TOGETHER.

The Hypodermis: The Layer Hairdressers Should Never Ignore

💛 If you work with hair, you work with skin. And if you work with skin, you need to understand what is happening beneath the surface.

When we talk about beautiful hair, we often focus on the hair shaft , colour, condition, texture, styling and finish.

But excellence in hairdressing starts much deeper.

💛 Meet the Hypodermis !Layer 3 of the scalp.💛

The hypodermis is the deepest layer beneath the skin. It contains adipose (fat) tissue, blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue, and it plays an important role in cushioning, insulation and supporting the structures above it.💛

And this matters to hairdressers because the hair follicle doesn't exist in isolation.

💛 Every strand begins within a living biological environment.

The follicle interacts with surrounding skin structures, blood supply, nerves and the tissues around it. The condition of the scalp and the body's overall environment can influence how the follicle functions and, ultimately, what happens to the hair we see emerging from the skin.💛

This is why understanding hair AND the skin around it is so important.

Because your client isn't just bringing you "hair."

They're bringing you:

A nervous system
A blood supply
Living follicles
Sebaceous glands
Sweat glands
Connective tissue
Skin cells
Adipose tissue

And millions of tiny biological processes working together

And then there is body hair.

Hair isn't simply decoration.

Body hair has roles in sensation, protection and interaction with the environment, while follicles are living structures connected to the skin's wider anatomy.

For a professional hairdresser, this understanding changes the way we approach everything from:

Consultation
Scalp analysis
Colour services
Chemical services
Product selection
Scalp treatments
Hair removal considerations
Styling and heat
Home-care recommendations
Recognising when something doesn't look or feel right

And perhaps most importantly...

It reminds us where the boundary of our profession lies.💛

When Your Business Associate Does Her Research… 🦉💛

It’s a little-known fact that I absolutely LOVE owls. 🦉

So much so that we have our very own mascot, Frederick Pedrickson, who has become a rather special part of our story. 💛

So when my incredible Business Associate, Sheralee, chose the venue for our meeting, little did I know just how perfectly she had connected the dots…

This incredible woman captured the exact moment she announced:

“We’re meeting The Spotted Owl!” 🦉✨

And honestly… my face says it all! 😂💛💛💛

Because when someone takes the time to know what makes you smile, does their research, and then creates one of those “OMG… you did WHAT?!” moments, we'll, that’s something pretty special.

Sometimes business is about strategy, partnerships and opportunity…

But the best business relationships are built on people who actually pay attention. 💛💛💛
