Monopoly = power to one ☝️ Competition = power to all ⚖️

When you buy, sell or mortgage a property - one of the biggest financial transactions in many people’s lives 🏠 - there is essentially one company that comprehensively dominates the electronic lodgement market.

This means virtually no competition - which leads to poor outcomes for the consumer.

We had a similar situation many years ago where Telstra was primarily the monopoly in the market and legislation was required for it to “inter-operate” so that other telcos could enter the market.

Last night, we passed historic reforms, which have NATIONAL application - the Electronic Conveyancing (Adoption of National Law) Amendment Bill 2022.

It means that in the future, when you buy or sell property - you will have a choice re electronic lodgement provider 👍
