Urgent Assistance Needed!
Hi All, we once again need to call on mountain bikers to assist us. We thought we had moved past the point of needing mass email support however that appears to not be the case.
Central Coast Council is currently recategorising all the land that it owns and/or manages. Part of this categorisation process is outlining uses of that land.
A huge concern for mountain bikers is that anything that is a natural area is to be recategorised.
Specifically that land categorised 'bushland'.
Any land categorised as bushland has been provided has having a primary use of:
Conservation & "Development will generally be limited to low impact activities such as walking on wellformed tracks"
Yep no running, no riding, no rockclimbing, no orienteering, nothing except walking on fire roads.
This is in direct contradiction of Council approving a mountain bike feasibility study (That has been put on ice) This means that any findings by a mountain bike study would ensure that the trails could not go forward as they would inevitably be located in bushland.
The good news is that the permissible uses table mentions cycling. This needs to be reinforced as mountain biking!

We need to change the language to specifically include mountain bike trails.

We need the plan of management to include permitted use of mountain biking on singletrail. not just cycling
