Leeder Analytical-Training Courses For 2022

Leeder Analytical has a purpose-built training facility combining theory with practice. Our courses are structured with a combination of classroom-based presentations and practical exercises. Our trainees will be able to get some hands-on experience to gain a better understanding and confidence.

Training is provided for all levels of experience, whether you are an absolute beginner or advanced in certain areas looking to expand your knowledge. Certificates are provided at the end of each course.

Melbourne Based Training:

* Fundamentals of Gas chromatography (GC): The course introduces the basic GC theory, hardware and software to enable the user to perform their own analyses and routine maintenance.

* Fundamentals of Gas chromatography Mass Spectrometry: This course follows on from the Fundamentals for Gas Chromatography course to include mass spectrometry theory and principals to perform their own analysis.

4-6 October 2022 – GC & BASIC MS COURSE
* 2 Day Fundamentals of Gas Chromatography (GC) $1,200/person
* 3 Day Fundamentals of Gas Chromatography (GC) and Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) $1,800/person

This week at Leeder Analytical we completed a two-day training course on the fundamentals of Liquid Chromatography.

All attendees thoroughly enjoyed the training and learnt a wealth of information.

Today the staff of Leeder Analytical had a tour of the Trajan Scientific and Medical corporate office, located in Ringwood, Victoria.

During our visit we were shown through Trajan’s production facility to see how products, such as liners, syringes and GC columns were made. It was a very informative visit with all staff being impressed of the scale of the production facility.

Yes! We are still open!

Despite the announcement of the Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria, we want to assure you that we are currently still open for business.

Our priority has been to ensure we take care of the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and the community by proactively following the recommendations issued by the Australian Government, World Health Organisation and other relevant authorities.

Putting the business under the microscope

Five years ago, we moved into our new laboratory facilities. Prior to moving in, we had the chance to design a laboratory from scratch.

The laboratory was designed to minimise energy use as far as possible. Fitted with low energy consumption LED lighting panels, the insulation on all internal wall and ceilings were doubled, timers on hot water units and energy efficient cooling was installed. 60 solar panels (18kWp) with an estimated capacity of 25,000kWh were installed. Apart from reductions in energy consumption other area in the laboratory we also reviewed. One area identified was to scale down solvent extraction volumes. This has halved our use of chlorinated solvents in the laboratory. This reduction has a twofold benefit. These are to halve the amount of waste being generated, disposal cost and also halves the cost of expensive laboratory grade solvents.

Over the past 5 years we have estimated that on our solar system alone we have reduced our greenhouse gas emission (GHGE) by 160 tonnes. With low energy lighting and increased insulation this amount would be far greater if taken into account. Reduced operating cost in electricity and reduction in solvent purchase and disposal costs all makes good business sense.

Hand Sanitiser - Is yours effective?

With alcohol based hand sanitiser (ABHR) now in high demand and some business repurposing their production to aid in increasing hand sanitiser production, it is important to ensure your product- hand sanitiser meets the required alcohol level to ensure its efficacy.

Not all hand sanitisers are the same. The US Centre for Disease Control (US CDC) recommends using ABHR with greater than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol content in healthcare settings.

Open for business as usual.

At a time where the World Health Organisation has announced COVID-19 ("coronavirus") as a pandemic, Leeder Analytical continues to prioritise the health and safety of it's staff, their families and to our customers.

At the moment business continues to operate as normal as we continue to monitor the advise of the Australian Department of Health.

Summer Placement Program – Latrobe University

Latrobe University offer an integrated learning program to provide students with the skills to enter the workforce. This program allows students to extend their formal academic learning beyond the classroom to apply the theory learned in class into the workplace and gaining industry insight.

Leeder Analytical had the pleasure to host one of Latrobe University student for the last 5 weeks. We were able to provide practical work experience within our laboratory where they were able to utilise sample preparation skills learned in practical classes along with an introduction on how a laboratory functions.

Perfluoroalkyl Compounds in personal care products.

Pefluoroalkyl Compounds (PFC) are persistent organic compounds which are known to pose human health risks. Leeder Analytical has completed analysing a range of commonly used personal care products such as insect repellents and sunscreens for the presence of PFC’s .

These matrices are extremely difficult to accurately quantitate. Leeder Analytical analysed all samples in duplicate with great correlation and good surrogate and spike recoveries. Our method and system blanks are showing our that our procedure and our facility are free of PFC’s.
