Spectrum Partnership Autism Services

Spectrum Partnership Autism Services A collaborative approach to autism intervention through ABA therapy. Parent and therapist support and training as well as varying types of therapy provided

All of the Therapists that work with us at Spectrum Partnership have their Working with Children’s Check, and have undergone an Australian National Police Check within the previous 12 months. During group sessions there will always be at least one Therapist present who is our First Aid Representative and holds an up to date Level 2 First Aid and CPR certificate.

1:1 THERAPY SESSIONS
Using your ow

n service provider, we can help in the pairing of suitable therapists with families – subject to availability and location. Therapists can assist in home therapy as well as crèche/kinder/school shadowing sessions.
**Currently there is a limit of available therapists. GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS
ABA inspired therapy in small groups. We work on a variety of group and personal targets within a fun and play based approach.

- 3-4 children per group – 3 hour session
o 2 x Level 3 (senior) Therapists

- 5 children per group – 3 hour session
o 2 x Level 3 (senior) Therapists
o This option is not available for every child

*Occasionally there may be extra junior staff joining the group for training purposes. In these instances there will be no additional charge to you. SCHOOL HOLIDAY & RESPITE SERVICES
We will have higher ratios of therapists to children than a standard child care facility. All of the staff will be trained in some degree of behavioural therapy, so although there won’t be targeted goals during the session, there will likely be plenty of ABA elements slipped in there! Some trials available in 2016; please enquire.

- Half Day Child Care (4 hours)
o AM or PM sessions will be available dependant on availability
o Therapist numbers will vary depending on how many students we have
o Pre-bookings are essential

PARENT TRAINING & SUPPORT
Here at Spectrum Partnership, we are directed by senior therapists with years of varied experience in the industry of disability, and undergraduate qualifications in Psychology. We understand that autism intervention is not cheap and that ABA Therapy in particular is not accessible to everyone. We believe that for your child to have the best opportunities during intervention though, the approach needs to be flexible and inclusive of all elements of the child’s life. We like to think of successful intervention as a ‘Partnership’ between the families and their service providers. And remember, some therapy is better than no therapy, even if its parent run. We recommend the Autism Behavioural Intervention Association (ABIA) as the first point of contact to all parents who have a new diagnosis of their child and want to learn the basics. They offer a series of fantastic, valuable training workshops here; http://www.abia.net.au/training. Becoming a therapist is not difficult, and once you learn the basic elements of intervention, it is entirely possible to integrate it into the everyday lives of your children. In no time at all, it will simply become second nature. You as the parent spend the most time with your child! Once you have completed your training though, we find that there isn’t a lot of support– which is the gap in services that we are trying to fill! We are in the process of setting up an online interactive community which parents and family members can subscribe too, with various different packages available. As mentioned above, we are not Psychologists yet so cannot pretend to be, however we do have a wealth of experience and knowledge in the area of autism intervention, and a genuine passion for developmental psychology. We would like to support you to the best of our abilities with any questions and/or support that you might need. Included in our community there will be;

- Information about Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Applied Behavioural Analysis
- Regular training videos uploaded with varying content/topics
- Tickets to attend training workshops run by us (based in Victoria)
- Access to a community chat room also accessed by other parents and family members
- Downloadable data sheets, tracking forms and basic program information
- Downloadable program resources (i.e. reinforcement systems, schedules, 2D program materials)
- Contact details for our directors who will advise and help as much as they can
- A network of other service providers we recommend, if required
- Up to date information on the NDIS and information regarding government funding options
