Dr. Barry Prizant encourages us to see strengths first. When we understand from the child’s perspective, support becomes more meaningful.

Quote: “We need to see autism through a lens of strengths, not deficits. Support comes from understanding the child’s perspective.”

Every child has something they do well.
When we focus on what they’re good at, we help build confidence and encourage effort.

“Focus on strengths, not deficits. When kids feel capable, they try harder—and their ADHD brains step into their gifts.”

Dr. Michelle Garcia Winner reminds us that social learning is about thinking, not just behaviour. Teaching autistic students to think socially helps them navigate life with confidence.

Quote: “Social learning is about more than behaviour—it’s about teaching autistic students how to think socially, not just act socially.”

Dr. Peter Vermeulen highlights the importance of adapting teaching to the way autistic children process the world.

Dr. Temple Grandin reminds us that visual thinkers learn best when ideas are shown, not just explained.
By teaching with pictures, models, and examples, we open new doors for understanding.

Quote: “Visual learners thrive when we teach in pictures, not just words.”

We love this quote from Debra Ruh "Accessibility allows us to tap into everyone's potential".

Instead of someone being singled out as being 'different' with special accessible access, what if we catered for all abilities.

When communicating online in particular, there should be no excuse for delivering information that is not accessible to everyone.

When we remove barriers everyone benefits.

“Accessibility allows us to tap into everyone’s potential.” – Debra Ruh

We love this statement from Debra Ruh because it captures the heart of what accessibility is truly about: unlocking human potential.

Through her Billion Strong movement, Debra is creating awareness and driving global change by showing the value and talent of people with disabilities. When we remove barriers, we open doors to innovation, creativity and inclusion for everyone.

Accessibility benefits us all.
