“It’s such a different oud.”

Something we often hear about Oudh Nür.

It’s exactly why we created it.

At its heart is Australian oud, cultivated in far North Queensland.

Once harvested, the wood is chipped, soaked in rainwater and slowly distilled to extract its oil.

The length of soaking changes everything. For our oud, the wood chips are soaked for seven days, producing a softer, more delicate character. Others can be soaked for up to 40 days, creating something far more intense and animalic.

A generous dose of leather gives the fragrance its depth, while rose and Egyptian jasmine bring a beautiful floral softness.

But perhaps our favourite part is the sh**ha accord. A warm, subtle sweetness that weaves its way through the entire fragrance.

An oud fragrance that doesn’t behave quite like an oud fragrance.

And that’s entirely the point.

Last night, we opened our doors after hours for an intimate evening.

An evening of good w**e, lovely people and new conversations.

No rush, no formalities. Just the pleasure of slowing down and getting lost in conversation.

Inspired by tram tracks connecting city streets.

But, there’s also a subtle Melbourne reference in there that most people don’t know.

Melbourne is famous for having four seasons in a day. So, when we created Sonic Silver, we tried to put all four into the fragrance.

It starts with summer. An overdose of bergamot and basil makes the opening really bright and green.

Then there’s petrichor - that smell of concrete after it rains - alongside a metallic accord. For us, that’s spring and autumn. Wet tram tracks, leaves stuck to the concrete, the city after rain.

The base is firmly winter. Asphalt, tar and tonka bean. Darker, warmer and a little dirty.

Four seasons in a day, built into one fragrance.

A little bit of Melbourne hidden in Sonic Silver.

We often get asked about the story behind our name.

Flâner is a French word with no direct English translation. It means to wander through cities without a goal or destination.

It’s about noticing details. Unexpected moments, people, materials, anything really.

Most importantly, it’s about finding beauty in the overlooked, the imperfect and the everyday.

When the world keeps asking us to move faster, it’s more important to do the opposite. To slow down.

As Charles Baudelaire wrote, “What strange phenomena we find in a great city, all we need do is stroll about with our eyes open.”

People ask, “why the fox?”

The fox is an urban wanderer.

Independent, observant, and a little cheeky.

It moves through the city at its own pace, following its senses. Stopping when something catches its attention, just like us.

You’ll find our fox above our doors in Melbourne and London.

We keep our fox there to watch over the street.

A small sign for fellow wanderers that there’s something inside worth slowing down for.

Our fox represents how we wander through the world.

It strolls without a destination, takes the long way and occasionally gets into a little bit of trouble along the way.

Our fox follows its nose.

We like that.

But, there’s another reason for the fox.

Not a big one, just a more personal one.

We tend to keep that story offline, some stories are better told in-person.

“When will you have something new?”

It’s a question we’ve been getting quite a lot lately.

We understand. It has been a while. The last fragrance we released was over a year ago.

Fragrance is moving faster. There is always something new to discover, another launch just around the corner.

Fragrance is often described as the last thing we put on before leaving the house.

But it doesn’t have to borrow fashion’s launch cycle.

We take our time.

Not because slow is inherently better, but because a fragrance needs time to become distinct. To lose the things that feel too obvious. To find the imperfections that give it character. To reach the point where changing it again might make it better, but actually less characterful.

We’d rather add something to the collection because we couldn’t imagine flâner without it, not because the calendar told us it was time.

New fragrances are coming soon. Just when they’re ready.
