Our first vintage together was 2021. We took Chardonnay from a vineyard in Top Range managed organically by Fiona Wood. The intersection of 3 GI’s. Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Zone and, on our side of the road, McLaren Vale. We had 4 varieties to work with that vintage so separated each into free run and pressings. Those were our wines.
The pressings of the Chardonnay had so much character, so much depth. It was a richer and more immediately enjoyable wine. We named it Capitaine to honour our great friend and winemaker Lisa Capitaine, a human who is immediately enjoyable and makes our lives richer for knowing her.
A week ago we were cleaning the press and heard a familiar ‘Ellloooow?’ A surprise visit from Lisa who we haven’t seen in over a year.

Usually we would be presenting a carousel of our favourite ladies and expressing our gratitude for all that they do for us and our industry.
We love you all and can’t believe how lucky we are to be surrounded by such talent and support.
We want to look forward now to create an industry where, as female winemakers, we are not listed for diversity, for virtue signalling, for equality, but because we’re making wines that are just as fu***ng great as everyone else’s. Inclusion is an important step, but it needs to go further.
Thank you to everyone who has been there on this amazing 6 year journey and to all the support from our friends, restaurants, retailers and wine lovers!

Heading into our 6th vintage together, we could say that when we started Parley around a friends table in the first lockdown of 2020 that we had no idea what was to come. But that could not be further from the truth.

We knew what was coming. We had each worked for a number of friends/winemakers. We saw how hard it was. We were by their sides when they succeeded and when they failed.

We knew the challenges that we could encounter if we chose to take this path. We did it anyway.

Thankfully we had guidance from those we love and our own determination to see us through.

This is us at our first “Parley Staff Party” looked after by our gorgeous friend and an icon of natural wine and one of the most over qualified FOH staff in Adelaide you have created a sanctuary that we look forward to visiting over and over again ❤️

Congrats to us! And congratulations to all of our beautiful friends who have guided us to where we are now. We love you and love this community of creators

BLENDING BENCH - One of our favourite days of the year. It helps when the sun is shining. Today we put together all the final blends for 2025. Blending is 25% flavour, 25% emotion and 50% spreadsheets. It used to take us days, sometimes weeks, to come to an agreement on the final components. Now it’s a few hours of listening to girl pop, gossiping and catching up. The result of careful winemaking, confidence and knowing our wine. Bottling very soon for release some time after vintage. See you soon x
