Amazing news!!!!!! Super, Bris based label Phoebe Paradise is opening up shop!! And shes offering an incredible pop up space for young creatives to have their own trial run. I am beyond excited about this and my little heart is warm with admiration. If you havent checked out her label before- all the designs are original illustrations; funny, sentimental and quintessentially Brisbane.
HI FOLKS!
HUGE NEWS:
💥💥💥💥 I’M OPENING A BLOODY SHOP!!! 💥💥💥💥
I’ve kept this under my hat for what feels like forever, and I’m so, so pleased to finally share this with you all. I signed the lease to the new Paradise clubhouse on my birthday last week, and am collecting the keys THIS SATURDAY.
Phoebe Paradise will be joining the ranks of the Winn Lane group, in Fortitude Valley at the historic 715 Ann Street. I feel so proud to be neighbours with incredible Brisbane businesses such as Sunday Social, Ben's Burgers, The Babushka Ballerina, the zoo and so many more. I’ll be spending the rest of the month turning my outrageous, neon vision into reality at the shop, and will be opening our doors for the first time during August. But never fear! I will still be running our online store; it’s going to be a hectic month.
The Phoebe Paradise shop will be the headquarters for our locally made, weird and wonderful collections - garments, apparel, accessories & prints. But we have another purpose at the store; to provide a pop-up location for other emerging labels and artists.
Last year, I started looking for a temporary pop-up shop location in Fortitude Valley. When I walked down Wickham street I saw loads of empty retail shopfronts all the way down to Newstead (some of which have been so for 5+ years). I battled on the phone with property owners and real estate agents for months, but no-one would look at a small business twice unless they were willing to commit to a 3-5 year lease in the 4006 postcode. I had no problem securing a pop-up shop location in Melbourne’s centre in 2016, but unless you are willing to fork out thousands (or stick to the market circuit), Brisbane is not easily approached. So the decision was made to dig my heels in, and dive into something with a little more permanence.
Part of our mission at the new HQ is to give local makers the opportunity to take control of their visual identity and test the market in the heart of Brisbane's cultural nerve centre, by hosting a pop-up at Phoebe Paradise. You’ll have the opportunity to launch your brand or product line at a store in one of Brisbane’s busiest precincts, and collaborate on visual merchandising, a launch party and window dressing. I’ll be doing a callout VERY soon with more details on this I promise.
Some genuinely exciting things are happening in Brisbane, and the Valley in 2017. I’m so excited to be a part of it with you all, and meet you in person when we open our doors.
As always, keep an eye out on the instagram & facebook, or sign up to our newsletter to see any and all updates!
Love Phoebe xx 💕💕💕
