Albany 2027 - the first of the WA Bicentennial 2026-27-29-31 celebrations for Albany, Fremantle, Perth & Western Australia.

Albany will host next year’s WA Tourism Conference.

The event attracts hundreds of delegates from across the state.

City of Albany mayor Greg Stocks told ABC Great Southern Breakfast’s Paul Cook he was pleased with the decision.

“It starts to recognise that people in Perth understand that Albany is the centre of the Earth for tourism and we are starting to find our place,” he said.

“To have the conference here is fantastic and a recognition we are doing a lot of things right in Albany.”

The conference will run from May 24 to 26 in 2027.

ALBANY’S NEWEST FREEMAN

Former mayor Dennis Wellington was declared an honorary Freeman of the City of Albany tonight at council’s May meeting.

Mr Wellington joins Terry Eaton and Alice Rule in the sharing the honour, the highest a local government can bestow on its residents.

Known for his strong passion and advocacy for Albany, Mr Wellington was lauded by sitting councillors for his years of leadership and commitment to making the City the best it can be.
