After a pretty meaningful week, I thought Friday deserved something a little less serious. ๐Ÿ’œ

Meet my new chakra boots and butterfly boots. ๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

Yes, they are colourful.
Yes, they are a bit funky.
And yes, they are very, very me. ๐Ÿ˜‚

They also came with a few little reminders I rather love:

โ€œPeace & love.โ€
โ€œHappiness is a choice, not a result.โ€
And my favourite: โ€œBe your own vibe.โ€

We spend so much time focused on the big things - progress, purpose, work, momentum - that itโ€™s easy to overlook the small things that simply make us happy.

No business case required.

Sometimes joy can just be joy.

Hereโ€™s to the funky boots, the butterflies, the little things that make us smile, and being comfortable enough in ourselves to enjoy our differences.

Whatโ€™s brought you a completely unnecessary amount of joy this week?

Watching this gibbon launch itself across the lines at Perth Zoo made me laugh, but it also landed with something I have been thinking about this week.

A lot of teams are moving fast.

Meetings.
Deadlines.
Change.
AI adoption.
More pressure.
More noise.

But movement does not tell us whether people are actually able to contribute their best thinking.

Some people are not quiet because they have nothing to say.

They may be processing.
Masking.
Waiting for a clearer invitation.
Weighing up whether it is safe to offer a different view.
Using huge amounts of energy just to navigate the room.

If we want better ideas and braver conversations, we need cultures where more people can contribute.

Not just the loudest.
Not just the fastest.
Not just the most familiar.

Curiosity.
Empathy.
Generosity.

That is how we create the conditions for human intelligence to show up.

The tiger shark was not in the plan.

We had planned to swim with humpback whales in Coral Bay, but the tour was cancelled the day before.

So we found a manta ray snorkel instead.

And then, completely unplanned, a tiger shark showed up.

My nephew got in the water. I stayed on the boat, wrapped in a towel and filming like a very brave documentary crew of one.

After 2,800km on the road this week, it felt like a pretty good reminder:

A loose plan can still have a clear direction.

The plan can change without the whole thing falling apart.

And sometimes the story you didnโ€™t plan is the one you remember most.

This video is from a road trip with my my family in Norway a few years ago.

We were on a fast boat, moving through a narrow passage where speed was not the impressive part. Judgement was.

Iโ€™m heading off with one nephew again this week - this time for humpback whales in WA - and it has me sitting with a bigger question about AI, leadership and who we trust to shape the systems increasingly affecting work and everyday life.

The people who can sit with uncomfortable questions, rather than rushing past them, tend to make better decisions when it matters.

Sometimes stepping away from the noise is not a distraction from the work.

Sometimes it is how the work gets done well.

The people leaders in yesterdayโ€™s room did not need convincing that neurodiversity matters.

I was working with Tapestry โ€” the team behind Coach and Kate Spade โ€” and people leaders from across Australia and New Zealand as part of my Unleashing Potential series.

They already had awareness.
They already had tools.
They already cared.

The harder question was:

How do you turn that care into everyday leadership practice?

This session focused on neurodiversity at work: how we spot difference without stereotyping it, how we include people without making them feel like a project, and how we create braver cultures where people feel welcome, valued and inspired.

Because neurodivergent people are not struggling because they lack potential.

Often, they are spending too much of their energy masking, translating, recovering or trying to fit a narrow version of โ€œprofessional.โ€

That is wasted human intelligence.

This is also why I keep coming back to Full Throttle & Torque.

Not as a burnout conversation.

As a leadership conversation.

Because daring leadership is about creating the conditions where bold ideas, different thinking and honest contribution can actually surface.
