Thanks to Busselton Jetty and Blueback Freediving & Yoga
Please book on for next Sunday 6 March - Busselton Jetty Dive for a reason! See below.
We have 20 sponsored places (Thanks to OzFish Unlimited) for divers wanting to stay in Busselton on Saturday evening at a campsite (called Abundant Life), so you can attend the clean-up dive on Sunday morning (without a very, very early Perth-drive to Busso). We can share a dinner together that night before heading in to the jetty in the morn.
Adreno Freediving Adreno Spearfishing Are kindly offering free tank fills for our Perth crew. Please get organized with these ahead of Sunday morning. Thanks to Lauren Hooper and her team at Adreno Perth.
Please contact me to book on for this, if you are committed to attend Blueback Freediving & Yoga via text 0439770038 once you have registered at Busso Jetty online.
I'd love for us to practice together reciprocity -giving back to the ocean for what it provides us in fathomless blue joy, inner peace, healthy nutrition, oxygen and a place to feel at home...away from land.

Step Up to Clean Up this Clean Up Australia Day!
This Clean Up Australia Day we are running the first Big Busselton Jetty Underwater Clean Up event! We are calling on certified divers or qualified freedivers to come along this Sunday March 6th and help us to clean our oceans of marine debris. We are endeavoring to clean large sections underneath the Jetty from shore to the very end, and we need a team of passionate ocean lovers to do that!
Marine debris is not only unsightly but it is dangerous for marine life, sea birds and to us. Marine animals and sea birds can become entangled in debris, and even mistake it for food, often with fatal results. Divers, snorkelers, swimmers and beach goers can be directly harmed by encounters with marine debris as well. Beach litter we can see, marine litter often is out of sight and therefore out of mind. We want to change that and bring awareness to the issue of marine debris in our oceans.
Interested to join us?
The Underwater Clean Up will begin at 7am with registration and safety briefings before teams of divers and freedivers are divided into teams and sections of the Jetty to clean. A thorough dive briefing will be conducted prior to dive and the in-water dive time is limited to 1-1.5hrs. Meeting back at the start of the Jetty we will de-brief and begin to sort and record our litter pile. The data will then be entered into the Tangaroa Blue Marine Debris Database. The event will wrap up at approximately 11am. You do not have to stay for the counting and sorting of marine litter, this is optional.
Busselton Jetty will provide transport along the Jetty for divers, freedivers and their equipment (so you donβt have to walk out to the end). We will also have facilities available to store any personal items while you are in the water.
All volunteers must have ALL their own dive and freediving equipment that includes BCD & regs (divers), filled dive tanks (divers), full wetsuits (hood and socks optional), masks, snorkels, weights, fins, protective gloves and dive knives. If you have your own mesh bags for collection of litter, please bring along but we will have litter bags available on the day. We have limited gloves available so it is best to bring your own. In addition, please bring a reusable water bottle (water fill stations located at start of Jetty and along the Jetty), and all your own personal items.
All divers must be certified and have logged at least 20 dives.
All participants must be 16 years and over.
All freedivers must be qualified and experienced.
Please register your interest in attending this event to: [email protected].
We will have forms that you will need to fill out that will be sent to you and must be completed prior to the event.
Proof of certification MUST be provided.
Registration will close on Thursday March 3rd and we have limited places available so get in quick so you donβt miss out.
This is a COVID safe event and you will need to sign in with the ServiceWA app, wear a mask and social distance during all dive briefings and gatherings.
Together we can all do our part to look after our oceans and protect our marine life and seabirds from ocean pollution! ππ
