This week’s best auction results (15-18 June)

A drop-dead gorgeous Mercedes drop-head, a fully-kitted Ranger Wildtrak, and a swoopy BMW that makes more torque than a family SUV has any right to.

These were some of the standout results from this week's CARBIDS auctions. 👇

1. 2016 BMW X6 M50d - $24,950
The week's highest result went to BMW's wonderfully over-engineered triple-turbo diesel SUV, which packs 740 Nm - enough to rearrange small geographical features.

2. 2024 Nissan X-Trail ST - $22,060
Just 46,304km, factory warranty remaining, and less than two-thirds the price of a new one.

3. 2016 Mercedes-Benz E250 Cabriolet - $22,050
The prettiest sale? Hard to argue otherwise. This Mars Red Mercedes convertible also boasted heated seats, a 360-degree camera, and a quaint little analogue clock.

4. 2017 Ford Ranger Wildtrak - $20,650
Australia’s most popular car is a hit on the used market too. Especially when complete with a bullbar, snorkel, roof racks, towbar, spotlights and … we’ve probably missed something.

5. 2017 Hyundai Tucson Active X - $13,200
A well-equipped family SUV for little more than the price of a used hatchback.

Who says four turbochargers are only for supercars?

Certainly not BMW.

The X7 M50d packed a quad-turbo diesel six-cylinder under the bonnet, giving this seven-seat luxury SUV a gut-wrenching level of grunt - while barely troubling the fuel gauge.

Sadly, emissions regulations brought this wonderfully over-engineered masterpiece to an end in 2020.

Fortunately, examples this clean still exist.

You can’t get an Audi RS3 like this anymore.

Audi will discontinue its legendary turbocharged 2.5-litre inline five-cylinder engine from mid-2027 - the unit that has given performance Audis their own unmistakable, slightly unhinged voice for years.

And this particular 2017 RS3 Sedan, with 122,022 km, is louder than most.

The owner has kitted it out with a host of modifications, including a Stage 2 tune, MCA coilovers, carbon intake, upgraded brakes, 19-inch wheels, and - last but not least - an X-Force exhaust.

It’s currently listed in the Canberra Premium and Prestige auction, but it won’t be around for long - bidding closes tomorrow night, Wednesday 16th June

Don’t leave it until this RS3 is making all the right noises in someone else’s driveway.
