Frontier would like to thank the men and women who spent all day and night helping restore services to the Northern Beaches of Townsville. At a time when most are at home preparing their homes for a tropical cyclone and spending time with their familes, they were instead covered in mud, in the pouring rain in the pits, hauling 7km of new fibre optic cable.
Around 10pm on the 9th Jan, someone decided to steal around $100 of copper cable and at the same time vandalised the Fibre services delivering Internet and mobile signal to around 9000 homes.
It's acts like this that cost Telstra, Optus, NBNCo and Opticomm hundreds of thousands in repair bills. Not to mention the potential losses from businesses who couldn't operate. I sincerely hope, nobody had any emergencies during this time and that those responsible are brought to justice.
