Today is International E-Waste Day 🪫💻📱
This year the focus is on Fast Tech, the small electronic items that have become part of everyday life. Many contain hidden rechargeable batteries that can easily be overlooked when it's time to throw them away.

When batteries and e-waste are placed in general waste or recycling bins, they can be crushed during collection and processing, creating a serious fire risk for collection vehicles, facilities and workers.

• Take batteries and e-waste to an approved recycling drop-off point
• Check old devices for hidden batteries

A small action at home can make a big difference to safety and help recover valuable materials for recycling.

Last week we had the opportunity to watch the Werribee Football Club Junior Academy in action, with plenty of talent on display and the coaches putting the athletes through their paces.

There was also some “Bin It to Win It” fun, with participants testing their skills to see who could kick the footy into a (clean!) Corio Waste Management bin.

One of the highlights was hearing from 8 time world kickboxing champion Stan Longinidis, who shared his experience and insights with the group.

We’re proud to support the Junior Academy alongside ACW Facility Services and Kieser Werribee helping provide opportunities for young athletes across Wyndham to develop their skills and confidence.

Fantastic to see the build progressing at our Western Composting Technology Pty Ltd Huntly site, with the installation of the tunnel roof 🏗️🙌🏻

The Tunnel technology is an enclosed, highly controlled in-vessel system used to rapidly decompose and pasteurise organic waste such as food and garden organics (FOGO).

Another decade of service to celebrate! 🎉Today we recognised Kevin Shellard's 10 years with Whitford Liquid Waste.

Having been in the industry for over 40 years, Kev has a wealth of knowledge and is highly respected across the organisation (with a few stories to tell!). Not one to shy away from the dirty work, he still gets on the tools when needed.

Reflecting on his 10 years with the business, Kev said:
"What’s kept me going for the last 10 years is being passionate about the work we do and watching the company grow and knowing I’ve been a part of that great team.
