A year ago today we took the keys to HR4Business. I'd be lying if I said I knew exactly what I was walking into.
What I did know was the kind of firm I wanted it to be. Not a shopfront selling templates. A team that understands what it's actually like to run a business, make payroll, have the hard conversation with someone you like. We've built that, and I'm proud of it.
The best days have been the ones spent on the road. Long drives out to some beautiful corners of this country, sitting across the table from someone in their own workplace, working out what they're really dealing with rather than what the policy says they should be. You learn more in an hour on site than in a month of emails.
To the clients who backed us early, thank you for taking a chance on a new owner. To the ones who'd been here long before I turned up and chose to stay, that meant more than you'd know.
Adam Robson and Jason Preston at Prekaro Projects gave me my stripes as a consultant. Plenty of what I do now, I do because you gave me a chance to test, learn and grow as both a consultant and a business owner. Your guidance has been invaluable.
And my family, who copped the late nights and the weekends and never once made me feel guilty about it. This is as much yours as mine.
Year one done. Year two starts tomorrow.
