"If I report, I get support." The four words that can define a genuine safety culture. 🎯

During our recent webinar, Building a Culture of Safety & Injury Prevention in the Workplace, Keith Govias, Workplace Safety & Risk Principal at EML Group, shared valuable insights into what effective early intervention looks like in practice.

From creating a culture where workers feel confident reporting issues to taking action before a niggle becomes an injury, early intervention starts with making support accessible.

Work Healthy Australia recently presented and facilitated interactive activation stations at the MINTRAC Industry Connect event!

Max Cohrssen, our VIC Operations Manager and onsite allied health clinician, shared insights on managing both physical injury and the psychological barriers to recovery, while our team brought the discussion to life through three hands-on activations covering 3D Functional Screening, Workplace Pain Education, and Work Conditioning.

Attendees gained practical strategies and tools they could take straight back to their workplaces to support injury prevention and sustainable recovery.

A big thank you to MINTRAC for having us!

Last weekend, the Work Healthy Australia team came together to celebrate an incredible year.

From recognising our values award winners and high performers, to hearing from Paralympic Triathlete Liam Twomey on resilience and what's possible when you back yourself — it was a weekend that reminded us why we do what we do while honouring the year's achievements.

As we head into the new year with exciting initiatives on the horizon, we're grateful for every person who makes Work Healthy Australia what it is.

Here are highlights from our Staff Weekend.

Zero lost-time injuries doesn't mean zero pain. At times, it can just mean workers are carrying it silently.

Ahead of National Pain Week (26–31 July), it's worth asking: does your culture encourage workers to speak up — or push through?

The 2025 National Pain Report found 7 in 10 Australians feel ignored when it comes to their pain. In the workplace, that silence is where minor injuries can escalate.

Earlier conversations lead to better outcomes. It really is that simple.

We're welcoming Keith Govias Workplace Safety & Risk Principal at EML Group to our panel on Building a Culture of Safety and Injury Prevention in the Workplace.

Keith is a Master's-qualified WHS and workers' compensation specialist who has advised regulatory panels on mental health policy — and he has the results to back it up.

As an industry award winner (National Retail Association & VERO RM Advancer), Keith has successfully implemented early intervention strategies that have reduced claims volumes and premium costs across some of Australia's most recognised brands.

If you want to know what a proactive injury prevention strategy actually looks like in practice and what it can do for your bottom line, then Keith's perspective is one you don't want to miss. Join us on 21 July to hear it firsthand.

There is zero room for complacency when it comes to workplace safety. 🚨

While most organisations focus on responding to injuries after they occur, the best ones act before they happen — using real-time data, targeted early intervention, and proactive workforce health strategies to prevent injuries before they become claims.

Join us on Tuesday, 21 July at 1:00 pm AEST for a free expert panel discussion on building a genuine culture of safety and injury prevention in the workplace.

✅ Practical strategies to support workers without compromising productivity
✅ How to prepare and condition workers for physically demanding roles

A worker reports a sore elbow. Is it just a physical strain, or the start of a complex psychological claim? Matt McClelland says it’s rarely just about the biological tissue. It’s the "history before the history" – perceived injustice, lack of support, or fear of re-injury.

The 24-Hour Contact Rule: The simple act of a supervisor checking in within the first day can stop a worker from "catastrophising" and rebuild the trust necessary for recovery.
