It was great to be part of today’s annual “Meet the Buyer” event in Rockhampton, hosted by the Growing Queensland - Queensland Government Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with contractors, government representatives, and businesses across Central Queensland’s supply chains.

Thank you to everyone who connected with First Nations Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). We’re looking forward to following up on the great connections made across the value chain and continuing to champion First Nations participation in state development opportunities. 🤝

Taking a moment to reflect on what an incredible two days we had at Dorrie Day Gladstone earlier this month & Bundaberg today!

FNCCI was proud to stand alongside hundreds of students from the Gladstone and Bundaberg regions.

🎨 Among all of the fantastic career and employment pathways on offer, our FNCCI stall invited students to imagine a different kind of future... One where they could be their own boss! We asked them to dream up a business (no idea was too big!) and design their very own logo. What followed was a wave of proud young potential business owners, many who spent the day wearing their creative logos with pride. Moments like these are a powerful reminder of just how much creativity, ambition and business potential lives in our young mob, and how we can support bringing out that entrepreneurial spirit early.

Our Chairman, Matthew Cooke, joined a panel discussion at Powerlink Queensland’s Central Queensland Transmission Network Forum in Gladstone, sharing why lasting change comes from a place-based approach, not just short-term targets. He spoke to the role of our First Nations Business Hub at 33 Warne Street, the importance of regional relationship agreements for genuine local presence, and the need to bring Indigenous voices in early, because our communities live the impact of these projects every day, not just observe it.

It was great to be part of the Capability Statement Workshops and connect with businesses across Central Queensland in Biloela, Gladstone, and Rockhampton last week.

Delivered by the Queensland Government Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning in partnership with Powerlink Queensland, the workshops provided valuable insights and practical tools to support business growth. It was also a fantastic opportunity to engage with Industry Capability Network – Queensland (ICN QLD) and connect with First Nations businesses across the region.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to host Amber Stevenson, Regional Economic Development Manager, Rio Tinto at the FNCCI Business Hub, in Gladstone. 🤝

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, alongside discussions with FNBGGGTB Development Corporation, to identify potential procurement and increase supply chain participation for our people, while strengthening relationships and exploring future collaboration. 🚀

We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to create meaningful, long-term outcomes for regional Queensland. 💼🌱
