Finish It Friday Update | Small Biz HQ

What a week it’s been here at Small Biz HQ!
✔️ We’re wrapping up BAS work and getting everything ready for lodgement
✔️ Had a great team meeting diving into the new superannuation legislation (always evolving!)
✔️ All client employees have been paid — big YAY from us 🎉
✔️ We’ve officially gone fully remote… PJs all day = winning 🙌
✔️ And we’re nearly at the finish line on a major client migration project
Feeling accomplished and ready to roll into next week strong 💪

Superannuation Update: Here’s What You Need to Know!

Superannuation is changing!
From the first pay run after 1st of July!
What does this mean for you?
• Super must now be paid at the same time as your payroll
• Contributions need to be made every pay run
• Payments must reach employee super accounts within 7 days
Staying on top of these changes is key to remaining compliant and avoiding penalties.

🏡 Why we went remote (and why we’re not looking back)

Like a lot of small businesses, we’ve been doing a bit of reflecting on how we work best, and for us, going remote made sense.

💙 It means more balance between work and family life (because let’s be honest, life doesn’t happen neatly between 9–5)
🚗 It cuts down the time spent in the car getting to and from the office
🙌 It helps reduce costs so we can focus on what actually matters — our clients
😅 And if we’re being completely honest… we’re a team of fairly committed introverted homebodies

Plus, sometimes working from home looks like a professional Zoom call up top… and activewear and fluffy socks below 🤭

Less commuting, fewer interruptions, more focused work, it’s a win all round.

✨ But the most important part?
We’re still here. Still working hard. Still looking after our clients just doing it from our home offices instead of in the office.

Same team, same service… just a little more flexible (and a lot closer to the coffee machine ☕)

To all the mums out there juggling life, families, small businesses, careers and everything in between, we see you 💙

To the mums who somehow keep all the plates spinning (even when one or two wobble), who show up day after day, and who make it all look easier than it is, you’re incredible.

To the mums who raised us and helped shape us into the women and mothers we are today, thank you for the lessons, the support, and the strength you passed on.

And to the little ones (big and small) who remind us why we do it all, you’re our why, every single day
