On Wednesday, Startup Gladstone Inc organised the final culmination event - The Pitch-A-Thon Showcase.

The event was a chance for the Gold Award winners of the EarlyPreneur Program to present their products in a competition against other schools. The winners of the 2023 Mayor's Innovation Award were Gladstone Central State School who won for their innovative product under the business name - Stressless Superstars. Also pitching at the event were Gladstone South State School and Stanwell State School. The judging panel consisted of Councilor Desley O'Grady, Sophie Ovenden, Emily Costello and David Mailman.

The event also featured students who participated in the numerous Junior Innov8ors STEM Club events and holiday workshops held this year. Showcasing their learnings were grade 4-6 students from Kin Kora State School, Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School Gladstone, Gladstone West State School and Gladstone Central State School. The event was held at the Neighbourhood Centre at the Philip Street Precinct.

Also supporting the event was Luis Mojica with his ace photography, Rina Panda of Ri Ri's Food Van for the delicious after tea, Not For Profit House Lyndal Hansen for the use of their microphone and speaker. As well as Startup Gladstone members - emcee Salvador Zuñiga Aguirre, Stephen Strachan, Ethan Mitchell, Jaideep Fernandes and Ninik Sujiyanti.

It's that exciting time of the year again, as Startup Gladstone Inc gears up to host our highly anticipated annual Pitch-A-Thon Showcase. Just last week, we had the honor of picking up the trophy from Gladstone South State School, the proud winners of the 2022 Mayor's Innovation Award.

Guided by the exceptional leadership of Principal Patrina Dendrinos and their dedicated year 6 teachers, the school showcased remarkable creativity with their project, Southside Industries. Harnessing the flexibility of the EarlyPreneur Program (EPP), students conceptualised, created, and successfully sold products at various school events, including their 125-year celebratory occasion earlier this year.

As a token of recognition, Startup Gladstone Inc presented the Pitch-A-Thon winning prize to GLADSTONE SOUTH STATE SCHOOL—two 3D printers along with filament, a valuable addition to support their EarlyPreneur markets.

The bar has been set high, and the anticipation is building.

Which primary school will claim the coveted Mayor's Innovation Award this year?

Find out at our annual Pitch-A-Thon 2023 Showcase on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, to witness the unveiling of this year's innovative triumphs.

Thank you to our special sponsors for the event:

Join us in welcoming Kat Milner our Techpreneur Guest Speaker, the Chief Tech Ninja and visionary founder of Simplify Your Tech.

Kat's journey through entrepreneurship began with her very first venture as an AVON representative in 1988. Over the years, her path led her to explore diverse fields including Spiritual Counseling, Hypnotherapy,
Hypnobirthing Instruction, NLP Practice, and Traditional Coaching
Certification.

Amidst these varied pursuits, Kat consistently sought her "Unique Value Proposition," that distinctive element that would set her apart in a sea of similar offerings. Along this journey, she cultivated an affinity for technology and honed skills that span Graphic Design, Web Design, Marketing, among others.

In December 2022, recognising a pressing market need, Kat embarked on a new mission—to simplify technology for Coaches, and Simplify Your Tech was created. An ingenious integrated platform designed to equip Coaches with 95% of the tools necessary to efficiently run their businesses and seamlessly host online courses. In January 2023, Kat brought her vision to life, launching Simplify Your Tech and revolutionising the way Coaches engage with technology.

We're really excited to hear Kat's transformative journey of
perseverance and innovation.

On Friday we heard from Annabel Cheong of Caduree on Meet the TechPreneur. Annbel's journey is a testament to the dynamic nature of life's aspirations. Drawing parallels between teaching and entrepreneurship, Annabel emphasises the significance of teamwork, networking, and organisation. She believes in understanding the reasons behind actions, whether in a classroom or a business setting, exemplifying the power of empathy.

In her entrepreneurial journey, Annabel employs strategic planning techniques like sprints, each leading to a milestone. She introduced her listening audience to tools like Notion, Monday, Trello, Asana, Canva, and Miro to stay organised and focused. Annabel's story is a fusion of adaptability, empathy, strategic planning, and the courage to learn from setbacks.
