🌸 Come and help our community artwork bloom at ArtBeat 2026 🌸

I’m so excited to be bringing a community art project to the ArtBeat Music and Arts Festival at Gold Coast University Hospital on Friday 9 October.

On the day, I’ll have a large community artwork ready and waiting for YOU to help bring it to life.
Everyone who visits will be invited to add a flower. 🌼

You can paint your flower, or you can add words to a flower sharing something that helps your mind bloom — perhaps family, friendship, music, creativity, nature, sleep, laughter, reading, your pets… whatever it is for you.

Throughout the day, every individual flower will be added to the artwork until together we’ve created one beautiful, blooming piece of community art. 🌸🌻🌿

There’s absolutely no artistic ability needed. Your flower can be colourful, messy, simple, detailed, painted or filled with words. It’s your little contribution to something we’re creating together.ArtBeat celebrates creativity and the voices of people with lived experience of mental illness, while helping to challenge stigma and celebrate connection, creativity and recovery.

I am completely obsessed with these little rag angels 🤍✨And I think I’ve worked out why they make me so happy. When I first started making little gifts coming out of a period of being incredibly unwell. I made so much I decided to have a stall at a market. Creating became part of how I healed. And some of the very first things I made were fairies and angels.

My daughter used to say they looked like “flutterbys ” 🥹🧚‍♀️ and that when I started Flutterbykisses

Those little whimsical creations eventually became my first tiny business in the UK, which I ran alongside working as a nurse. I made, created and saved and that little business helped me put away enough money away with my family to eventually start a completely new life here in Australia.

It’s funny how things come full circle.

All these years later, I’m still creating, still surrounded by scraps of fabric, paint, clay and beautiful little bits and pieces… and apparently I still can’t resist an angel, a fairy or anything with a touch of whimsy.

So perhaps these rag angels aren’t just something I’m obsessed with right now.

Maybe they’re a little reminder of where it all began.

During the evening, we’ll create four beautiful snail mail packs ready to send, with plenty of extra papers, prompts and inspiration to take home so you can keep creating and sending a little happiness through the post. 💕📮

No art experience needed — just come along, create, write and enjoy a lovely evening together. $60 all material 4 stamps and refreshments.. this Friday 28th August.
