SPEAKER POST: Glenn Crowther-Wilkinson
One of the most underrated drivers of creativity and innovation isn’t a tool or technique. It’s time. In ClockWise™, we organise the innovation process like a clock—moving through defining, discovering, deciding, and delivering. But before you can move around the clock, everyone needs to be at the same ClockWise™ time—thinking in the same direction, at the same moment.
We call this “Spend Time Together.” It’s the discipline of aligning a team not just on what they’re doing, but when they’re doing it. Innovation derails when one person is generating ideas, another is evaluating them, and someone else is planning implementation. Same meeting, three different time zones.
Spending time together doesn’t require being in the same room. It requires being in the same ClockWise™ time—the same mindset, purpose, and stage. When a team agrees, “Right now we’re at 2 o’clock—Generate Ideas,” everything sharpens. Energy lifts. Work becomes smoother, faster, and more enjoyable.
When someone starts critiquing during brainstorming, a simple question—“What time is it?”—brings everyone back. Evaluation comes later, at 5 o’clock.
This discipline creates three outcomes:
Focus – everyone knows the goal of this moment
Momentum – the team moves forward together
Psychological safety – people contribute more freely
Innovation isn’t linear, but it is rhythmic. Teams that stay in sync—whether in person, hybrid, or remote—produce better ideas, make better decisions, and deliver stronger results.
Good things really do happen when we spend time together.
