Most builders I sit down with can’t give me these three numbers on day one.
1. Break-even. What the business needs to make every week to pay every bill and pay you.
2. Cost to complete. What it will actually cost to finish every job you’ve got on.
3. Monthly dashboard. Turnover, gross profit, expenses and net profit on one page, every month.

They’ll do the demo and supply the materials. Price comes down, sounds fair.
But you’re still managing the demo, fixing the orders and carrying the risk. The margin shrinks and the job gets longer.

$40K over 10 weeks is $4K a week.
$30K over 12 weeks is $2.5K a week.

Before you agree to a smaller scope, divide the margin by the weeks.
