Steve Mudge Advisor SCALE YOUR BUSINESS AND AVOID BURNOUT

04/06/2026

June advisory closes today.

But I want to be clear, this is not for every builder.

It’s not for someone who just wants more leads.

It’s not for someone who wants a course, a template, or a few motivational calls.

It’s for a builder who wants to get serious about the business underneath the building work.

The numbers.

The margins.

The owner’s pay.

The time being lost.

The jobs that look profitable but don’t turn into cash.

That’s where advisory starts.

Finance first, then we build the rest around it: sales, team, systems, leadership and expertise.

If your business is busy but still not paying you properly, this is the conversation.

One June advisory spot is open.

Applications close today.

DM JUNE.

Busy doesn’t mean paid properly.

A building business can look healthy from the outside and still be underpaying the owner.

The usual signs:

Quoting time not recovered.
Client calls not allowed for.
Subbie meetings eating the week.
Overheads guessed.
Margin sitting on paper, not turning into cash.

That’s why advisory starts with the finances first.

Then we build the rest around it: sales, team, systems, leadership and expertise.

1 June advisory spot available.
Applications close Friday.

DM JUNE to apply.

June Advisory Opening

I’m opening 1 spot for a custom builder who wants to structure their business to pay them properly and move in the right direction.

The work starts with the finances.

Not because leadership, marketing, systems and team don’t matter.

They do.

But if the numbers are wrong, the rest becomes harder than it needs to be.

We look at:

* what the business needs to make
* whether jobs are priced properly
* where margin is leaking
* what the owner should be paid
* what structure is needed around the next stage of growth

This is 1:1 advisory for builders who want more control, better decisions and a business that supports where they want to go.

1 June advisory spot available.

DM JUNE if you want to talk it through.

A slow job can destroy profit
even when the build goes well.

Most builders track:
✔ labour
✔ materials
✔ variations

…but ignore time.

That’s usually where margin disappears.

If your jobs keep dragging out and profits stay tighter than they should…
start measuring duration as closely as cost.

DM TIME and we can start speeding your jobs up.

You can be fully booked and still be going backwards.

I’m seeing a lot of good builders under pressure right now — not because they can’t build, but because the business side of the job isn’t getting reviewed closely enough.

Turnover hides problems.
Profit exposes them.

The builders who stay strong over the next 12 months will know:

* where their margin comes from
* where it leaks
* and what their numbers are telling them early

Not at BAS time.
Not when cashflow gets tight.
Weekly.

DM CHECK and I’ll send you the 5-point margin review.

Most builders know what they pay their team.

Far fewer know how many hours are actually billable each week.

And that gap matters.

Because quoting labour based on:

* 40 hour weeks
* perfect productivity
* zero interruptions
* no callbacks
* no organising
* no running around

…usually leads to under-recovering overheads and profit.

The question is not:
“What do I pay my team?”

The real question is:
“How many productive, recoverable hours does the business actually get each month?”

That number changes everything:

* pricing
* overhead recovery
* break-even
* profitability

If you want the worksheet/system I use to help builders calculate real billable hours, DM me: WORKSHEET

Most builders don’t need more motivation.

They need clearer numbers.

In the first 90 days, we focus on getting control of the financial side of the business so decisions become easier and profit becomes more predictable.

No generic business coaching.
No complicated spreadsheets you’ll never use.

Just practical financial clarity built around real projects and real costs.

1 advisory spot remains.

DM CHECK.
