Steve has been there right from the start and has been the lynch pin and reason this workshop has been such a success.

Congratulations to Ash Muir - one of the LES team based in SA.

Ash has just won silver in the cycling at the Invictus Games at The Hague.
Ash also competed in the rowing, powerlifting plus wheelchair rugby.

We know how long the wait has been, how hard the training was but you never took your eyes off your goal Ash.

Great work - very inspirational.

What is the Frontline Leadership Course?

The Frontline Leadership course is not only suited to Senior Firefighters, Lieutenants and Captains, but also for our Frontline Firefighters.

CFS offer this course as we recognise the potential in our volunteers, and we want to encourage good interactions.
While the title of the course is Frontline Leadership, the course content is so much more. One of the big outcomes of this program is confidence…the confidence to lead (based on written and verbal feedback).

Participants learn techniques that help to stay calm under pressure, how to best give and receive feedback and how to deal with difficult people. Traits that be carried throughout life not just CFS.

The Frontline Leadership course is held at least once a month throughout 2022 at regions 2, 3 and STC.
To delve deeper into the Frontline Leadership course please head to the volunteer portal and download the course overview.

Louise, our hearts are heavy with sadness and loss.
What a tragedy to learn one of the most caring and kind souls has left us.
The LES team would like to express our sincere condolences to everyone in Louise's family, the CFS family and the wider emergency services community - all who knew the lovely, selfless and compassionate woman that Louise was.

Obituary for Louise Hincks:

Louise Hincks joined the CFS as a volunteer at the Eden Hills Brigade on 27 July 1994 before transferring to Region 1 Operations on 12 November 2008. Between December 2008 and 2019, Louise took a break from volunteering whilst studying, using her skills to go on and support fellow emergency services workers through the Stress Prevention and Management program.

A loved and respected member of the Happy Valley Brigade, Louise held the positions of Brigade Finance Officer and Senior Firefighter. A passionate volunteer firefighter, there was nothing that Louise would not do to help someone. Yesterday, tragically, Louise lost her life on the fireground, doing something she loved. Louise was a much loved member of the CFS and will always be in the hearts of the CFS family.

Statement from Louise’s family:

Louise was a loving wife, mum, daughter, aunty, sister and caring CFS volunteer. She spent a lifetime devoted to the community and the Country Fire Service, which she loved. We are devastated at her loss. We sincerely thank every volunteer from the Country Fire Service who is currently on the ground, and particular the Happy Valley / Eden Hills brigades. Thank you to the community for their outpouring of love, support and for respecting our family privacy at this time.
