Ever wanted to fly in a legend? ✈️

For a limited time, this is your opportunity to experience one of the most exclusive warbird flight experiences in the Southern Hemisphere aboard our Curtiss P-40E Kittyhawk.

Warbird Experience Australia is offering a strictly limited number of P-40 Adventure Flights in Charleville for Wings On The Warrego, 11–13 September 2026.

And there’s a special connection to Experience Charleville.

During WWII, Charleville was used for a period as a processing centre for newly arrived P-40 aircraft in Australia. Aircraft were flown from Amberley to Charleville, where they were serviced and prepared before being collected by operational squadrons.

More than 80 years later, you now have the opportunity to experience the P-40 from this historic airfield.

CHARLEVILLE EVENT SPECIAL — $2,800 PER PERSON

Your experience includes:
✈️ Approx. 15–20 minutes flight time
⏱️ Approx. 45-minute experience
📸 Photo opportunity with the aircraft
🎓 Pre-flight briefing

🔥 Optional aerobatics

Into the storm clouds… 🌩️✈️

One of my favourite moments from the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast 2026 — the stunning Curtiss P-40E-1 Kittyhawk VH-AK4 soaring away towards the building clouds.

This particular Kittyhawk has a remarkable history. Built in 1941 as USAAF 41-25158 / RAF ET482, it served in the South Pacific before being transferred to the Royal New Zealand Air Force, becoming NZ3009 and serving with No. 14 and No. 17 Squadrons. (Down Under Aviation News)

After the war it narrowly escaped the scrapyard, was eventually restored to flying condition, spent time in both the UK and New Zealand, and was later converted to a two-seat configuration. After several years grounded, it came to Australia in 2024 and returned to the air as VH-AK4. (Scramble)

Today she wears the striking markings of a Nationalist Chinese Air Force P-40E, representing aircraft P-11151, associated with Chinese fighter ace Xu Hua Jiang. (Scramble)

Now operated in Australia by Warbird Experience AustraliaWarbird Adventure Flights, it’s fantastic to see an aircraft with more than eight decades of history still doing what it was built to do — fly.

And against those dark Gold Coast clouds… the old Kittyhawk looked absolutely at home. 🔥

What a way to kick off Pacific Airshow Gold Coast! ✈️☀️

Day 1 was an incredible one for Warbird Experience Australia, with our Australian-built CAC Mustang “Short-Fuse Sallee” and P-40E Kittyhawk taking to the skies over the Gold Coast beachfront.

There’s something pretty special about seeing these pieces of aviation history flying where they belong — and sharing it with a crowd like this.

We’re ready to do it all again today! Catch the Mustang and Kittyhawk back over the beachfront at 2:25pm. ✈️

Who’s joining us for Day 2?

We are very excited to have CAC A68-198 aka Short Fuse Sallee back in the Australian skies again. After decades abroad, watching this beautiful aircraft fly again over Australia is something truly special. A remarkable piece of aviation history has come home. ✈️🇦🇺
