The Brumby Project

The Brumby Project A team providing access to Australia's Brumbies and offering the opportunity to catch, gentle and own one of these iconic horses.

The Brumby Project gives you the opportunity to attend Brumby breaking and handling clinics led by Anna Uhrig. These clinics are held in central Queensland, central Australia and at TBP HQ in South-east Queensland and provide attendees with unique experiences and the chance to work with Australia's Brumbies. Attendees join a group of other like-minded horse enthusiasts and are guided through the s

teps of breaking in their own brumby which they will get to take home. Camping, horsemanship, new mates and plenty of bonus adventures await!

Dr Dave is always a wealth of knowledge, he’s speaking at the upcoming ACEHP conference, see you there!

Meet the amazing guest speakers we have lined up for the 2026 ACEHP Hoof Conference. We are so excited!!

Dr David Berman began his ecological research career
over 40 years ago in central Australia. He turned his two
showjumpers into research vehicles so he could observe feral
horses (feral means a domesticated animal living wild) in the rugged ranges around Alice Springs.

His PhD study of the ecology of feral horses led to a significant reduction in the damage they caused due to their overabundance in central Australia. The strategy developed has proven successful in many subsequent feral horse management programmes. Dr Berman has seen the devastating consequences of poor feral horse management.

Berman’s approach combines science with community engagement, an essential element for successful management. Unfortunately, activists and politicians have hijacked feral horse management, particularly in the Australian Alps.

Berman has been an expert witness in court, has contributed to parliamentary enquiries, and has been the Chair of the Kosciuszko Wild Horse Scientific Advisory Panel, in attempts to improve the management of feral horses in the Australian Alps.
Currently, he spends most of his time working in south-east Queensland exotic pine plantations, managing feral horses to reduce the risk of vehicle collisions.
