Imagine the panic if these were rats. Now ask yourself, what’s the difference?

Feral pigeons and rats get very different reactions from people, but they share a lot of the same downsides:

1. Disease risk
2. Property damage
3. Rapid breeding
4. Food contamination
5. Hygiene issues
6. Environmental impact
7. Habituation to humans

Bottom line:
Different species, same problem. Property damage, health risks, and rising costs the longer they’re left unmanaged.

⚠️ Reminder: educate your clients about termites and electrical appliances ⚠️
This is an issue worth reinforcing with customers during inspections and reports. Many clients still don’t realise that electrical appliances and services are high‑risk termite zones.

We regularly see activity in and around:
🔌 Meter boxes and switchboards
🔌 Air‑conditioning units
🔌 Hot water systems
🔌 Power points and wall cavities with wiring conduits

It’s important to explain why this happens. Termites aren’t attracted to electricity itself, but to the heat, moisture and concealed access these installations create.

Conduits and wall penetrations can effectively act as highways, allowing termites to move unnoticed into wall cavities and roof spaces.

When talking with clients, it helps to highlight the warning signs they can safely look for, such as mud shelter tubes around meter boxes or unexplained electrical issues that may indicate damage to insulation. At the same time, stress that DIY sprays and interference are a risk, particularly near electrical infrastructure, and can push colonies deeper or make professional treatment harder.

This is also a good opportunity to reinforce the value of regular termite inspections, especially for properties with older wiring, external meter boxes or split systems mounted against walls. Framing it as both a structural and electrical safety issue tends to resonate strongly with clients.

Clear client education on this topic not only helps manage expectations, but also builds trust and positions inspections as preventative — not just reactive.
