FLASHBACK FRIDAY: In this photo from the 1930s, the horse is wearing Light Delivery Harness (with a long-flap, cab-style saddle). The long-flap saddles are more stable on the horse than a square cart saddle [much less likelihood of rolling], & so are more suitable when the horse is used in a brake [breaking-in gig] with a young horse tied to the side.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY: The last few weeks' 'Flashbacks' have featured the well-known South Australian saddlery firm Holden & Frost in the past. Tonight's photo is the final in this series. It depicts a couple of waggons [or 'trolleys'], laden with various saddlery goods made by the company, promoting the firm through the streets of Adelaide some time last century [courtesy State Library of South Australia - date unknown].
