Our Story
Second Chance Recyclables Clearance Center A lot of our items are reclaimed & salvaged goods - that have been collected and fixed up, and now up for resale. Rather than seeing them end up in landfill, where no useful purpose can be gained from them at all.
However in saying that - there are also a lot of personal items that are owned by family, members of the public, and friends (as well as our own), of which we have decided to display and sell from within the old shop. Rather than having to have multiple garage sales from all different addresses, and then the hassle of setting up and packing up each time. So we felt that if they were all displayed in the one place, it would make it easier for everyone (Byers & Sellers), as well as for ease of storage. So this is why we have moved to a garage sale format, with an online component as well.
Previous to this current format, the shop did originally operate as a fully fledged second hand shop, trading under the name of Heyfield Recyclers. Later to be known as Heyfield New & Used before closing in 2016, after 12 years of operation, beginning in 2004 at this site and previously from 2002-2004 at the Temple street site.
The only reason for the closure at that time was so that we could concentrate on the scrap metal side of the our business. As due to the economic down turn at that time and the advent of facebook buy swap sells, face to face bricks and mortar second hand shops were beginning to fade, and so we decided to close it and concentrate on the scrap metal side of the business.
