Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH) is a privately owned Australian timber mill and advanced manufacturer. Established over 30 years ago, ASH has grown to become one of the largest hardwood mills in Australia; and Australia's largest hardwood manufacturer. Utilising automation and economy of scale, ASH operates 6 on-site manufacturing lines to value add timber from log to finished product. Thes

e include moulding, laminating, finger-jointing, deep splitting, set length docking and mass-timber production. Timber species include Victorian ash, American Oak, Plantation Oak, Radiata Pine and Mountain Grey Gum. We do things differently here at ASH and it’s what makes our products so recognisable in the market. We value innovation and efficiency within each of our 6 manufacturing lines. ASH is truly unique, and for good reason – to offer the customer high quality timber products at an affordable price. For example, our location was carefully selected many years ago that naturally allows the right amount of sun and air flow to slowly equalise the timber before kiln drying. Our commitment to quality by ultrasound scanning and grading means each board is optimised to get the best product possible. This modern home, built by Szkwarek Builders, showcases our Glacial Oak secret fix timber lining, which creates a smooth, naturally clean ceiling finish without visible fixings.

To tie the look together, matching Glacial Oak battens have been used to create a feature screening wall, perfectly complementing the ceiling and adding warmth throughout the space. A fantastic example of timber in contemporary home design.

The newly transformed foyer at the Karralyka Centre in Ringwood creates a welcoming arrival experience defined by warmth, tactility and structure.

Our Plantation Oak takes centre stage, with distinctive T-shaped MASSLAM columns that extending seamlessly from inside to out. Detailed oak battens outside complete the look, helping to deliver a cohesive and contemporary architectural outcome.

From battens to mass timber columns and beams, every element was manufactured at our facility in Heyfield, Victoria and delivered directly to site.

Huge thanks to Architecture & Design for featuring the Normanville Beach House by Adam Johnson Design. This home is a stunning example of what happens when you let the timber do the talking.

Our Australian Oak SUPASPAN range was used for its structural performance and its beauty. The exposed timber beams bring warmth, character, and a natural connection to the coastal surroundings of the home.

Paired with our Australian Oak lining and IronAsh cladding and battens, it's a project that shows the full potential of an all-ASH material palette, inside and out!

It was great to welcome the AFPA to Heyfield last week. We're always proud to showcase our team and local manufacturing capabilities, which produce mass timber products that are used in construction projects right across Australia. Thanks again to Dominic and Brad for the visit!

The new Lumina Function Centre at The Tasman Hotel is shaping up to become one of Tasmania's most striking timber spaces, and the story behind it is a proudly Australian one.

MASSLAM 38, our mass timber product made from Tasmanian-grown shining gum, is engineered and manufactured right here in Heyfield, Victoria. From plantation to production, it's Australian timber at its best.

Designed as a clear-span venue with no internal columns, Lumina lets the natural strength and warmth of hardwood take centre stage. The result will be an uninterrupted, light-filled space due for completion mid-2026.

We can't wait to see it come to life!

The Shed at the University of Tasmania is a milestone for Australian sustainable construction. It is the first project in Australia to utilise mass engineered timber made from Tasmanian-grown Plantation Oak (Shining Gum), which is a significant step forward for the industry.

MASSLAM 38, designed and made at our Heyfield facility in Victoria, transforms plantation fibre normally destined for export or woodchips into a high-value, locally manufactured mass timber solution. The result is a world-class educational facility that sets a new benchmark for what sustainable construction can achieve!
