Recent coverage in The Mercury and Todd's appearance on ABC Radio Hobart with Leon Compton highlighted an important milestone for Public Trustee, with all 28 recommendations from the 2021 Independent Review now delivered.

Most importantly, these reforms have been about improving outcomes for our clients. We are committed to ensuring the people we support feel heard, respected and involved in decisions that affect them.

Thank you to our clients, families, supporters, and Stakeholder reference group for helping shape a more client-focused Public Trustee.

All 28 recommendations from the 2021 Independent Review have now been delivered.

These changes put our clients first, improve services, and reduce costs for the people we support.

We support some of the most vulnerable people in our community, and it is essential that they receive the care and support they need. We are committed to continuing to deliver better outcomes for clients and strengthening the organisation for the future.

Today, the Deputy Premier, Guy Barnett; Damian Bugg KC (the author of the review); Brigid Wilkinson, COTA CEO; our Chair; management; and staff came together to celebrate this significant reform over the past five years.

The Public Trustee team was proud to participate in the Elder Abuse Awareness Walk and to sign the Lifelong Respect commitment.

Elder abuse often happens in silence, which is why it’s so important to speak up, raise awareness and start conversations. We all have a role to play in making sure older people are treated with dignity, respect and free from abuse.

Because elder abuse is everyone’s problem, and lifelong respect matters.

To learn more about the signs of elder abuse and how you can help, visit our website for further information.

Reconciliation Week is a time to build relationships between First Nations and non-indigenous Australians. It is a time for understanding and collaboration, to understand the beauty and complexity of cultures. We understand that reconciliation extends beyond these seven days, and we should consistently make time to foster stronger bonds.

You can find out more by going to the Reconciliation website - https://www.reconciliation.org.au/
