Australian Immigration Minister has released the new Ministerial Direction as follow.

Major migration changes have been announced, aimed at reducing net overseas migration. The new policy will prioritize applicants who are already inside Australia, while new applications lodged from overseas will face longer processing times than usual.

(Offshore) Partner Visa — If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident wishing to bring your partner to Australia, please be aware that processing times for offshore Partner Visa applications will now be longer. The Minister for Immigration has confirmed that applicants outside Australia should expect extended waiting periods compared to previous years.

(Offshore) Student Visa & Temporary Graduate Visa — Applicants will no longer be able to include additional family members in these visa applications. This means that if you apply for a Student Visa, you will be required to travel and study alone, without attaching your spouse or children to your application.

Overstaying in NZ? Here is the exciting news today!

The NZ First wants to introduce a 2‑year clemency period ONLY for Pacific Islanders who have overstayed their visas in New Zealand.

What that means in simple terms:

• Pacific overstayers get 24 months of extra time to fix their visa status.
• During those 24 months, they can apply for a proper visa and become legal.
• After the 24 months:• If they didn’t apply, they will be deported.
• They will be permanently banned from ever applying again.

This special allowance does not apply to any other nationality but ONLY Pacific peoples.

📌 Why they say they’re doing this

A Pacific advocate, says many Pacific overstayers are not intentionally breaking the law.
Instead, they are victims of:

• Immigration consultants who take money
• Do incomplete paperwork
• Don’t follow up
• Leave people thinking their visa is being processed
• Then Immigration NZ marks them as overstayers

He says the 2‑year grace period gives Pacific people time to fix mistakes caused by bad consultants.

• 20,980 people are overstayers in NZ.
• Top groups:
• Tonga: 2,599
• China: 2,577
• USA: 2,213
