Born April 2002 of well-known local business operator Barbara Williams, Sunkissed Quarter Horse Stud is the dream come-to-life of a passionate equine enthusiast. Boasting well-performed mares by some of Australia's top sires, with progeny by both domestic and international stallions including Dual Rey, Metallic Cat, Third Cutting, Hydrive Cat, SR Instant Choice, Reys Dual Badger, Rey Dual, Acres D
estiny, Tassa Lena, Accidental Doc and EBs Phalaris, Sunkissed is the home of quality horse-flesh. Well cemented in both the cutting and campdrafting industries, Sunkissed prides itself on breeding versatile horses. With a two year old program spearheaded on-site by Jackson Gray, and off-site by Casey and Alana Tones of Woodside Cutting Horses at Kilcoy, our aim is to produce and nurture well-grown and cared for bloodstock. We understand the importance of broke-minded young horses, handled with passion and started at the earliest convenience in their two year old year. Each foal crop is offered the opportunity to excel in the cutting pen or campdraft arena, or in any discipline best suited to the individual. With foundation broodmares such as Okie Little Lady, a dual age-event placegetter and 1996 CCCC Non Pro Derby winner, to today’s stars like Miss Pep San, the 2009 NCHA Open Limited champion, Sunkissed is the result of many able horsemen-and-women. During the stud’s beginnings, renowned trainer Les Rudd guided Sunkissed in the purchase of many of our broodmares. At the time aided by a young enthusiast Alana Taylor, Les trained horses such as Texas Playgirl and Shortys Little Jazz to the cutting pen where they became consistent money-winners and NCHA Area champions. Fresh from years spent riding cutters in California on the US west coast, trainer Luke Lyons took aim at age-event success for Sunkissed, guiding Miss Pep San (Peptos Stylish Oak x Miss Roc San) to the 2009 NCHA Open Limited championship at the NCHA Futurity. He and wife Erin nurtured and prepared many finalists for Sunkissed over a successful four year period, including 2010 NCHA Open Futurity finalist Cat O Ninetails (Cat Silver x Niners Ladybuck) and Cdees Mystic Spin, (Bank Fulo Cdees x Buc Spinnie) a 2010 CCCC Open Futurity finalist. Today, Sunkissed has horses in training and on track for futurity, derby and classic challenge events with Jason Leitch (dual NCHA Open Futurity champion and NCHA Hall Of Fame rider, LTE $740,000+); Lincoln Veraart (NCHA Non Pro Derby Champion); Casey and Alana Tones (NCHA age-event finalists, NCHA national title winners, campdraft champions, successful experienced trainers and two year old hands with over a decade of combined experience working in the US for million dollar trainers such as John Mitchell and Darren Simpkins); and Jackson Gray (multiple NCHA open and non pro age-event finalist and reserve champion, dual NCHA national title winner, years of experience working for top Australian trainers Phil Dawson and Dean Holden, as well as with Phil Gray and Rob Hodgman). Likewise, on the road to campdrafts and challenges in Queensland over the past few years has been veteran trainer Mick Connelly with Sunkissed's camp horses. On-site at our base in Purga, just five minutes from Ipswich, multiple passionate employees maintain top quality horse care with a passion for excellence. In charge of nurturing foals, yearlings and age horses, as well as breeding management and foaling, Emma Stockdale’s commitment to Sunkissed facilitates our success. With constant interaction with Westvets, our veterinary practise of choice, our dedicated farrier Luke Riding, and produce suppliers Moor Park Farming, Bremer Feeds and Scenic Rim Landscaping Supplies, Emma and all our staff and trainers enable the Sunkissed dream. Sunkissed Quarter Horse Stud always has yearling, two year old and age horse bloodstock available.
